I don't know if anyone else has done this, but when I'm listen to something on TV (maybe an advert or something) I sometimes hear some really lovely music e.g. for me, the Sky advert, with the piano in the background smile.gif

Also (and I'm a bit ashamed to say this), if I'm in the right mood, the "inspirational", getting-through-auditions music on X-Factor really makes me smile!

Anyone else get this?

Mr B gets this quite regularly......we'll be happily watching TV together.....music starts.......
Mr B: What's that music?
CJB: No idea
Mr B: What???? You're no use

sound of footfall on steps

time passes

programme ends

Mr B: Come here a moment <hands over headphones, google/itunes open on computer screen>

Mr B: Which of these 4 recordings do you think is best?

three days later CDs appear in the post.

I wish I could play more than the first 2 pages of Listz B minor sonate, or a few more of the Bach Goldberg variations - at the rate I'm going I'll just about be able to do them all by the time I retire. biggrin.gif

Am I the only one who finds learning these big works takes impossibly long with a busy teaching practise and 2 kids. To be fair, I haven't really concentrated much on the Listz but when I learnt Chopin's Barcarolle a few years ago it seemed to take forever.

Yep, learning massive works on your own does take a long time, especially when you're busy! You start off thinking: if I put in loads of work, I'll be able to play it really well, and then you're however long down the line in practising and you realise it takes a lot longer than you thought!!!
