Stephie
I've been listening to lots of soundtracks lately, and I was interested as to what everybody else's favourite soundtracks were, be they movie or game? Or it could simply be a composer who has written lots of your favourite soundtracks?

My favourite soundtracks would have to be:
- Labyrinth
- All the Star Wars movies
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Any Hans Zimmer
- Legend of Zelda soundtrack

I LOVE Conquest of Paradise! biggrin.gif My mum wants it played at her funeral... huh.gif I told her it might be a bit grand-sounding, but she will not be swayed!

I'm not really up on films but I really loved the piano music in Pride and Prejudice.

There are many fine soundtracks. A recent (for me) favourite by John Williams (would add all his scores to the list) is The Terminal.
TRACY
CARTER BURWELL - TWILIGHT MUSIC SCORE SOUNDTRACK

CARTER BURWELL - TWILIGHT MUSIC SCORE SOUNDTRACK

Yay! laugh.gif
Lucid
The opening theme from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves by Michael Kamen. I heard it on the radio a couple of months ago and had to dig out the film just so that I could hear it again. I really like the brass in it.

I do like lots of John Williams' music - Jurrasic Park, Star Wars, Harry Potter etc.

Back to the Future by Alan Silvestri.

Pirates of the Caribbean by Klaus Badelt. There's a particular piece I really like but not sure what it's called.

I also really liked the music for the first series of Lost by Michael Giacchino. I really like the cello themes. I think he changed/varied the themes quite a bit for the following series and I didn't like them so much.

Dugazon
Clint Mansell - I think probably one of the most underrated film composers we recently have (listening to all that glossy, overproduced stuff we usually get to hear).

I would recommend his works for 'Requiem for a dream' or 'The Fountain'

I saw The Fountain and - though I enjoyed it - I was left a bit confused afterwards! The music was beautiful smile.gif

I think that's probably the idea wink.gif
You should watch 'Requiem for a dream' then (same director btw.) - not for the faint at heart, but really worth watching.

If you liked 'The Fountain', you might also enjoy 'The Fall' (made me cry a lot, but it's definitely not cheesy).

Saving Private Ryan. I particularly like that version of Hymn To The Fallen. John Williams rules!

Clint Mansell - 'The Fountain'

I recommended this in a thread ages ago - I absolutely love it smile.gif

The film is confusing, but it does actually have a point wink.gif In fact I find the film quite a beautiful thing - it's more a work of art than a conventional film in a way smile.gif

I remember as a young man, I only ever bought one LP - the soundtrack of the film "Clockwork Orange". No idea what happened to the record, but I can still hear the thieving magpie as if it were yesterday!
Bagnewauckland
I Really love the music from the Halo series of Video Games.
Pretty much anything by John Williams (Esp. Star Wars)
Zelda, Mario, etc.
Many more, but am quite tired at the moment, and really need to go to bed
Crotchetymum
The themes from Schindler's List and 1492 Conquest of Paradise.

Someone mentioned the Pride and Prejudice piano music and it popped straight into my head, which for a TV series (not a long-running serial) is really unusual, so I'll have to go along with that one smile.gif

Indiana Jones

American Graffiti for 50s music smile.gif

Howell's Moving Castle was also mentioned. I can't remember the music, but we have the DVD, so I'll have to put it on and have a listen. Actually, I'm going to have to do quite a bit of film watching - I've forgotten so much smile.gif
The Old Lady
Chariots Of Fire.
Bladerunner.
Band Of Brothers.
The Glass Mountain.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Inspector Morse.

Anything Disney, Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and countless others, all complete GENIUSES I tell you. Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Pocohontas being among my favourites.

1.

When I was very little I saw the first part of a BBC series called 'The sea and the anenome'. I vaguely remember that it was about a little boy who had his head in the clouds and a vivid imagination.
The music haunted me for many years until one night when I discovered it was the piano concerto by Keith Emerson - from the group 'Emerson, Lake and Palmer'.

I remember buying one of their albums only to discover that I couldn't stand it!

But the piano concerto by Emerson is beautiful.

2.

The theme music to Flambards.
Anyone remember that?
