I can't decide what clarinet piece to play... I'm enjoying playing Misty at the moment but I've ruled that out because it would send everybody to sleep tongue.gif

So it's a choice between a couple of swing/jazz pieces that I really like playing party1.gif

Do both if they are quite short - play Misty and then wake us up with something swingy.

Yes I must admit the tone is rather nice - I usually choose to play stuff in the upper register so it makes a nice change to play the low notes. I think I'll play a few pieces to my teacher to see which one might sound best to an audience smile.gif

There's no way I'm going anywhere near any Vivaldi, so you're quite safe with that. laugh.gif I haven't learnt Summer Music (although it's on my wishlist), and wasn't considering the Rachmanioff as I knew there was a strong chance of someone else doing it. smile.gif
The Poulenc 2nd movement is or was Grade 7 and I have tried it because I like it so much, but my version is not ready for public performance, even amongst friends biggrin.gif .

I'm not quite sure how many things I'm committed to but I would be interested in a wind chamber group (except I think we are lacking a French horn and a bassonist).

I don't have any music either but I went on a wind chamber music course in the summer and if I rack my brains, I'm sure I'll be able to remember some of the things we played.

I have offered to accompany if necessary (which is partly why I'm unsure of how many slots I've filled).

Sorry Gerald, but that would mean that you as a piano-playing orchestral player would have 7 appearances on stage whist a pianist who didn't play orchestral instruments might have only one or two appearances on stage - that's precisely the situation I'm trying to avoid!
QUOTE(skylark @ Oct 29 2009, 10:52 AM) *

It's very difficult being fair to everybody who comes...

... and impossible to please everybody, even though I do my best to try rolleyes.gif

As I've said before, if I can fit in any further slots after I've got the forms back, then I will, and also as I've said earlier, if anybody isn't happy with their allocation in the end and doesn't want to come after all, I'll refund their fee smile.gif
No need to be sorry, Skylark, I can live with your decision and you are not going to put me off coming by it! tongue.gif .

What it does mean then is that I will now decide to limit my accompanying to just one person (and that will be Bev if she comes). I was simply trying to help share the accompanying load, if that was needed, without it restricting me on my own preferred choices.

And I think you are very fair (although not perhaps in hair colour biggrin.gif )

Music Stand will probably need an accompanist again, but isn't sure what he will be playing yet...

That is a good idea, and an enjoyable job for somebody I should think. On the other hand I think that accompanying is quite a good experience, for me anyway. Not being as good a pianist as I would like, (sadly!) it's an opportunity.

She'll play French Horn but you have to take her place at all her weekly lessons, ensembles and Orchestras. Then there's the Sax Day at RNCM, Solo performance at the Lowry Hotel and audition for NYRO. Various ensmeble concerts for the music service and a trip to the Royal Opera House.
