From what I can tell old posts vanish from the forum, and the search facility... well, I asked it to search for all posts made by me and it still said no results!!

So, also from what I can tell we can post links to pictures, I wonder if people would mind having a look and seeing if they think I could play the piano in this chair.

Particularly the view with the girl sitting backwards and using the chair to support her upper body. Since it's height adjustable and holds your body up but still allows you some movement it looks good, but then I am not the world's best pianist, and I don't want to find that I try it and like it for grade 4 but when I start to get all over the piano in the higher grades it doesn't work any more. It's a pretty heavy investment to get wrong! I may now be able to get some grant aid towards it, though, which would really help.

What about the picture with the bloke? I know he's put his arms really far back on the rests, but if he brought them more forward but still perched on the supports do you reckon you could reach a piano from there?

I think the castors could be a problem - surely you will end up sliding around as you play?

Is there anywhere that you can go to try the chair out? It does seem a lot of money to take a chance on - or can you get it supplied on approval, so that you can return it if it is not suitable?

If you're looking for the thread you started yesterday it does still exist. smile.gif You put it in teachers. http://www.abrsm.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=39275

Old posts don't vanish at all unless they are removed by a moderator and that doesn't happen very often. smile.gif

No, it's not that one, it was called (something like) "Chair recommendations for a disabled pianist(ish)" but I gave up when the search turned up no results for "disabled" or "pianist" written anywhere in any topic in any forum!

I do think old posts just fall off as the space is eaten up by new posts, though, as according to the system the oldest post ever placed in Viva Piano is from 30th September - surely that's not right? The board sticky says it opened in 2004!

If you change the white box at the bottom of Viva Piano to "Show All" rather than "From: 30 days" you'll find a lot more posts. smile.gif

Google finds old posts on the forum more effectively (and quicker) than the site's own search feature!

The quickest way to find your own posts is to click on your name at the top of the page where it says "Logged in as" , Then click Profile Options -> Find member's posts

I think the castors would be a problem too. Also it looks as though sitting on it backwards will make it difficult to move your arms around. You need to be able to move your hands to and fro across your body and it looks as though that might be difficult. As SueHM says, if you can try it out first you'll have a better idea of whether it'll be suitable.
