I hope this doesn't count as advertising, but I have no vested interest in this, just thought it would be helpful. So sorry if this breaks rules - not intentional!

I was browsing Brittania music shop and found they were having a first come first served huge sheet music sale - everything £2.99 - you send the list of what you want and you get it if there's any left or they refund you.

I've ordered some flute/ oboe stuff - quite a few things on the current ABRSM syllabus at all grades!

biggrin.gif
So thought I'd pass it on!

Click on your chosent instrument and select music to get the list for that instrument.

Brilliant, thanks flobiano!

I have had a lovely time choosing - and not spent too much... smile.gif

Well that passed a good hour or so. Narrowed it down though wink.gif
sg1psychopath
That took some willpower to narrow down my list! I could have spent sooo much! tongue.gif

Thank you flobiano for letting us know about this! It'll help me increase my pathetic amount of music without costing the earth! biggrin.gif

Thanks flobiano - I've ordered some good piano and clarinet music party1.gif

OOh - I hadn't realised there were reeds as well. I'm just getting down to my last few tenor reeds and have been debating whether to order them (as usual) or, given the postal strike whether to go out and try to get some at lunchtime, but the cheap deal persuaded me!

That's fast! I ordered some music on the 29th but it hasn't arrived yet - has anyone else got their music yet?
jazzycat
I ordered mine on the 29th too. I haven't received it yet.

I've just received mine in the post party1.gif

Mini_mo
Just to let you all know I have just spoken to britannia to check out the offer as the ordering proceedure is a bit odd and I was initially suspicious. But all seems fine. They said they have had quite a back log so that why you may not have received your orders yet.

Thanks for the link, I have ordered about 10 books biggrin.gif

sg1psychopath
Mine just arrived! I still can't believe the amount of music I received for the tiny price I paid! Only one book was out of stock (out of the 14 or so I ordered). They missed my piccolo stand out of the order, but I've just contacted them about that. They may have sent it separately as I imagine it'd be awkward to pack with music. Aside from that, I'm ecstatic, and it's really cheered me up after being ill for a few days. biggrin.gif

Edit: They did indeed send it separately and it has now arrived biggrin.gif
TSax
I've just had my payment refunded because they couldn't supply my reeds sad.gif
maggiemay
Thank you for the heads-up Flobiano - have only just seen this, so may not get my choice of books, but it seemed worth a try. Unusually good value!

ps everything now seems to be 1.99 - so even better than originally.
oboe d'amore
Thank you, Flobiano!

I have ordered 3 sheets and Cor Anglais reeds case - I checked it in youtube and loved it.
Hope not out of stock...

Very usueful information, thank you again! smile.gif smile.gif

Oh bad luck sad.gif

Does that mean they dont stock them at all, or they are just out of stock at present?

Only just spotted this and definitely interested in buying. Have already selected the ABRSM Grade 1 piano studies to have a look at and the Grade 5 and 6 clarinet books but wondered if any fellow clarinettists out there have any recommendations (Skylark? Jazzycat?) - particularly if you've already received yours! I'm looking for something about grade 4 - 6 level as a rough idea and am happy playing both classical or jazz but not particularly interested in Pop, TV themes and the like! Very grateful for any suggestions, as this seems too good an opportunity to miss but it is a very long list to work through, particularly without any pics or descriptions! smile.gif

Hi clarijo

For clarinet, I got a couple of books off the Grade 5 list so that I knew they'd be about the right level - Mozart Divertimento No 3 (K439b) and 80 Graded Studies. Not that I've got any plans to take G5 in the immediate future, but the syllabus lasts until 2013 biggrin.gif I also tried to get Romance from the Gadfly on the offchance I'd be able to play it, but that was out of stock and they've refunded my money.

For piano I got Paul Harris' G2 sightreading book and Mikrokosmos which I had on my list anyway because it was recommended by some teachers on here a while ago. I've been playing a bit of that today and I can recommend it as a student too smile.gif

flobiano
I've had a card through the door today to say that I have a parcel to collect from the sorting office so I'm guessing that's my music. But I've also just been refunded an amount equal to about half the books I ordered! Have to wait till Monday to find out which ones I got!

Glad you've all managed to get some bargains, though a shame some things weren't in stock !

Hi Skylark - thanks for the quick reply! I was completely spoilt for choice but have ordered a good mix of piano and clarinet books - if all of them are in stock, they will keep me very busy indeed for a long time to come!

I picked the ABRSM piano study books up to grade 3, some TG books up to grade 5 - extremely ambitious but they were a bargain! Similarly, I've also ordered ABRSM clarinet books for grades 5, 6 and 7 (!) Also, the Bach and Mozart for Clarinet, which I hope are the same ones I've had my eye on at Musicroom.com, a Demnitz study book which I've also been after for ages and a separate copy of Frensham Pond (because I want to play it and the grade 5 exam book may be out of stock!) Will let you know how much of it actually arrives! smile.gif clarinet.gif

Sorry clarijo, have only just seen your post. Mine arrived today - but only two out of the seven I had ordered. The Bach for Clarinet book, arranged by Erich Simon, looks quite interesting - simple chorales in the first section and some more challenging arrangements in the second section. I had also ordered the Kitchen Garden suite by Paul Reade but that was out of stock, as were the Weber F minor concerto, the Elgar Sonatina for 2 clarinets, the Stanford Intermezzi and the Mendelssohn E flat sonata sad.gif

I hope you enjoy playing Frensham Pond - it is gorgeous!

Also included in the package was the Romance from the Gadfly - sorry Skylark sad.gif

I ended up needing to go into town this morning so picked up my parcel at the same time. Didn't get any of the flute music but a good selection of oboe music! biggrin.gif

as the original prices were still written in I've worked out that I got over £60 worth of music for less than £24. So that's not bad at all!!

Oh dear...sorry to hear that. At least one is better than none! Hope it was a good one.

I think the best of the bunch I got was Ornamental Oboes. Have been sight reading through a few of them and I really, really like them! smile.gif Hopefully my teacher will too!

That's very generous of you, Skylark! biggrin.gif

I played it through today - I reckon it's about grade 5, possibly 6 as there are some tricky-ish fingerings. And an (optional) altissimo E - you can play that passage an octave lower, but it flows better in the higher octave.

Received an e-mail notice of refund yesterday - amounting to three copies: I'd ordered nine - so I guess that means six are on the way. Come on postman!

(ed) parcel received safe and sound - excellent value, and a good cross-section of what I'd ordered.
Much as I enjoy a local browse, I think I shall use Britannia again.
clarijo
I ordered 12 books in total (six piano and six clarinet) and received six books today - three for piano and three for clarinet, so at least it was an even split! My books total almost £40 when you look at the prices written inside, so I'm absolutely delighted with my bargain buy!

If anyone is interested, I got the ABRSM Grade 5 clarinet book, a Mozart for clarinet book (complete with CD), a book of Demnitz studies for clarinet and for piano, TG Grades 3 and 5 and the ABRSM Graded Pianoforte studies, Grade 3. The clarinet books are on the easier end of what I'd ordered (but at least I should be able to play from them straight away!) whereas the piano books are I think something to work towards - particularly the Grade 5 stuff (yikes!!)

Many thanks for letting us know about this, flobiano - hope you got some bargains too! smile.gif
jazzycat
Glad to know that at least you got Frensham Pond, clarijo! And the Mendelssohn Song Without Words in the Grade 5 book is lovely too. Have fun smile.gif
