What a way to spend the half term holiday when I was initially supposed to be lazing around a pool somewhere hot!

We have been painting the hall, stairs and landing which was well overdue. We initially started it before my Mum took ill and came to stay with us. Then it just got worse with all and sundry coming in to do with Mum. It is getting there but I have been suffering with a cold all week and oh, I just didn't want to be doing this!

Managed to put up some new curtains in my bedroom which I had bought over 2 years ago and waiting for husband to put up new curtain rails! Looks like it was never going to happen so got them up, hubbie caught me standing on the units and then I was in trouble! What am I supposed to do, can't reach if I don't! And it was obvious they were never going to go up if I waited for him! lol.

Well I think that we are having a reward tonight, with an Indian and a glass of wine, think that we deserve it.

thereThere.gif Tea and sympathy. Well done for tackling the decorating. We did something similar to the spare room in the summer holidays, and now all the relatives want to come and stay and admire our handiwork (we are not known for our decorating skills - but I think we have done a good job).

So beware, you'll have every Tom, Richard and Harry coming along wanting to "admire" it. laugh.gif

Well done - jobs like that are so daunting until you make a start and then, when you do, there's always more to do than you originally thought. I think the Indian meal and wine were thoroughly deserved. And I'm glad you didn't fall off the units.

I enjoy decorating but always run out of steam and the job stays almost finished for - well, years sometimes. My living room curtain were all done bar the hemming about 6 years ago, but it's a big window and it was cold, so I hung them anyway and thought I'd hem them later..... Fortunately they're floor-length, so as long as I tuck the ends under, no-one's the wiser biggrin.gif And I still have paint pots and stuff out on the landing because I decorated the bathroom in June, but I've just got a couple of bits left to do which I will do any minute now. Honest.

Well, they say 'Well begun is half done', don't they? My decorating is always well begun but remains half done biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Your story made me laugh and particularly the curtain story I could associate with. The amount of times I have hung curtains and said I will hem them later and never get round to it!

We are having a day off painting today, just as well as my neck and shoulders are hurting so badly, but then there are just the last couple of bits (we ran out of paint) that I have a fear may never get done! like you say, you always mean to go back to them.
