Yes, we thought he looked about 12!
Nice service, though there didn't seem to be anything very unusual. Enjoyed Bethlehem Down, though - and several of my favourite carols were in there - sung beautifully, as usual.

Happy Christmas wishes to everyone!

Just had a cup of Jamie Oliver's homemade Epic Hot Chocolate, as featured on his 2011 Christmas shows on Channel 4. Thick, velvetey, tasty, and with a couple of marshmallows on the top. I'd recommend it to anybody. Mr.Oliver certainly knows how many beans make five!

Me too!! I'm knitting AMUSED (on rav) from Rowan Cotton Jeans - hope it's going to work, I'm making a size smaller to allow for stretch!
What are you starting??
maggiemay
Dec 27 2011, 09:46 AM
Ooh, I like cotton jeans! I have some random balls of it in three or four colours from a sale earlier this year. I shall go and have a look at 'amused'.
Mine is a (requested) sleeveless cardi for my daughter in charcoal grey. We bought the wool in Rouen at the end of October, Lang Carpe Diem, nice stuff, and I have only now got round to casting on.
Oh, it's a top-down! Nice. I'd like to do a top-down sometime. I started one from the Pickles website
http://www.pickles.no/backwards-upside-down-sweater/a few months ago, but did not think the cotton yarn I was using was working too well with the pattern, or my shaping was not neat, or something, so it's hibernating for now.

Dec 27 2011, 10:06 AM
Yes, I'm worried that it's not going to work in cotton, I've never done a sweater in it before. I've done the smaller size to allow for stretch.I love top down design as I hate sewing up with a passion, and my gauge tends to loosen as I knit, so I try on every few inches to make sure the fit is good. I've done 2 top down and they are the best fit sweaters (and best loved) I've knitted

Sounds like lovely wool you are using....I don't have much good stuff, and what I have is mostly in sock or laceweight!
I've just ordered socks 2 at a time toe up...I've wanted it for a long time so can't wait for it to arrive now. A late pressie from my DH (perhaps he's hoping for a pair

)

Dec 27 2011, 10:12 AM
You 'll probably tell pretty soon whether it is working or not. I can't see why it wouldn't: in the one I was doing, the yoke increases were terribly obvious , and did not look neat. I imagine the incs in your pattern may be hidden in the cables.
I have never made socks! Must try one day.
