Full Version: Anyone For Online Ensemble?

Anyone with a flute or recorder and a webcam want to join me online to play the double flute concerto? I am getting fed up with having to play both parts myself with the aid of a tape recorder. I believe it is OK for me to send you a copy of the music electronically provided that you destroy it after we have finished playing it, as the only copy available for purchase has both parts printed on the same piece of paper, and there's something in copyright about being allowed to make an extra copy due to unreasonable logistic arrangements. Promise me you'll eat it afterwards, though! laugh.gif (or put in the bin) Much the better if you already own this piece.

I saw this topic and was intrigued...

Won't this be difficult to do, considering that there is some latency involved using webcams? It's not quite like being in the same room.

Just interested to know... smile.gif

i think the result will be very unsatisfactory. most "online jam" things seem to work by one person recording their part, then the next person recording theirs over the top. even the best online streaming solutions have too much latency for real-time simultaneous playing.

I haven't seen the music for this piece before but have a webcam, so I guess could attempt to play it with you. wacko.gif

OK, I guess probably not well described as a true ensemble, more of a two people playing the same piece at roughly the same time and one ploughing on regardless through the time lag. You basically don't turn up the volume on both webcams or you do get a ghosting.

Anyhoo, I may have found me a real live person, so I better get practicing! laugh.gif

Sorry to dive in with a complete irrelevancy but I like the new signature - very clever. smile.gif

I'm afraid though that the cleverness for the quotation in my sig belongs to the author of the book I'd been reading about alternative medicine - Trick or Treatment. It's well worth a read for those who don't want to waste their pennies on dubious methods of managing illness...and no, it's not simply an Establishment View, it's well researched and referenced.

RoseRodent, do you have an RV number for the Vivaldi so I can try to source it?

It's under a sleeping child at the mo, did you get a PM of the recording?
