Oh, I like that : have had pupils play that in exams before.

Piano accompaniment in full is a little beyond me, sadly (I tend to only do one line of it in lessons), hopefully there'll be someone along who's better than me! smile.gif

I heard Arabesque on Youtube, quite well played, it is such a beautiful piece, I wouldn't mind sending piano part ahead to some kind pianist willing to have a go with me.

Thanks and regards, I looking forward to this already, hopefully I will up my game to combat nerves before the event, I'm at Thameside Sunday week for their playday which should be good.

It does look a bit tricky, I wondered how the pianist will turn pages while playing on their own.
Thankfully on 2 facing pages for us. lol lol

Hiya

These posts remind me to talk about accompaniments.

AmandaL and I are grateful for all the pianists who volunteer to do accompaniments. As the majority of the volunteers are Adult Learners themselves, we do ask people to think hard before choosing their piece. Anything that the accompanists deem to be too tricky can't be accommodated.

I will match soloists and accompanists up after the closing date for applications, and soloists will have to get their music to the accompanists at that point.

Cheers

Katyjay

barry-clari
If this helps katyjay, I've looked at and can make a reasonable go at most of the AB clarinet, flute and saxophone grade 1 and 2 accompaniments, some of the grade 3 ones and one or two higher. Anything grade 3 upwards I'd need to vet first. smile.gif

Come on, Barry, it's not that bad - a maximum of just four notes in one hand at any one time! The shortest notes are only semiquavers, and what are a few spread chords and omitted notes between friends? laugh.gif

I'm waiting to hear when a couple of other events which usually occur in February take place. If 20th February is otherwise free, I'll come along at least as an audience member, maybe as an artist, possibly as an accompanist and/or page-turner. Watch this space, as they say smile.gif

Hi Lois, yes it's fine to decide later. With one condition - anyone that wants accompanying must decide on their piece by the closing date so that I can sort out a suitable accompanist and give them a chance to learn the music.

Unaccompanied performances, I need the piece details before I print the programme.

Fastest form this time is a dead heat between Panthera and Oboe d'Amore biggrin.gif

Only 'cos I've been away this week!

As usual, I'll be very grateful for any offers to take on an accompaniment. biggrin.gif

I talked about Teddington to my pianist friend - he is our family friend and has been looking after my exam and yes will do my daughter's one. (I really appreciate him from the heart)

He is very interested in and maybe coming! He is not forumate, but I hope it is ok...?
if so, he does accompany for me but also offers another attendance's accompany as well. It is good exercise for him, he said.

I let you know as soon as I know. He is very nice accompanist, just so comfortable to play together, and lovely person!

we have the building until 5, the actual concert tends to finish by about 4.15 (give or take a few minutes) and then tea, chat and packing up follow that.
