Has anyone done any courses at Goldsmiths College? I quite fancy the Jazz Piano Weekend course but am not sure what the standard will be.

http://www.gold.ac.uk/pace/piano/I did my A level Music there, many years ago!

It was a first class course, and its reputation is still excellent. I'd think that course you're looking at would be very good!

I did a couple of years of saxophone there on the PACE programme. The first year I did the middle of the 3 saxophone courses - this was a Saturday afternoon, the timing suited me down to the ground but I was quite a lot more advanced than many people in the class. The second year I went up a level, the standard was about right then, but the course started at 6.30 on a weeknight, plus I moved a few miles further away and getting home, picking up the sax and getting out again was just too much of a rush.
BUT - I'm really glad I did both years, they were excellent value for money (about £3 per class at the time) and they got me back into playing again. I've never really looked back and managed to find a Saturday class on my doorstep that was the right standard! There was a time when I was concerned that my current class could fold because of lack of students (thankfully that's no longer the case) and I had my eye on a Saturday jazz class at Goldsmith's as a possible alternative.
