I wonder if any of you either play, or like as much as I do, Carl Neilsen's 'Commotio' or Frank Martin's 'Passcaille'? I have liked both for longer than I dare admit, but they seem to be out of fashion these days. I would describe both as intellectual type pieces that benefit from repeated hearing. I doubt I shall ever be able to play them though - I have started several times on both but never get beyond the first few pages. Ah well never mind - back to The Short Eight them.

Commoto was written only a few years ago wasn't it? Something like 2002, or is that just when it got picked up by JS and others? Didn't realise it had already fallen from favour - undeserved.
If you're advocating this as recital music, go and read the article on Organ Culture by William McViker in the latest organists review. It is very interesting, and says a lot of things which needed to be said

Nielsen died in 1931.
