Full Version: My Piece To Be Performed At The Guildhall This Saturday!

I discovered today that my latest composition (Myriads, for Clarinet, sax, and piano) has been shortlisted for the reedplay competition (Victoria Soames-Samek, Jefferey Wilson, and Tim Watts) and that it is going to be performed in a workshop at the Guildhall school of Music and drama THIS Saturday. smile.gif

It's a nice surprise as I only saw the competition in October and only had about 2 1/2 weeks to write it for the deadline!

I've been invited to attend but it's just going to be too tricky I think!

Oooh, how exciting, saxgirl! What a pity you can't be there on Saturday to hear it. You obviously have some talent for composition. smile.gif

Hmmm, I still have LOTS to learn believe me!!!

Being a country girl, I wouldn't feel able to navigate London on my own, a shame, but never mind.

Congratulations!

London's not that difficult. smile.gif GSMD is almost right next to Moorgate station. If you're taking the train, from your direction, it usually goes into Euston or St Pancras and you just take the Northern line to Moorgate which is only a couple of stops.

There's also the Lord Mayor's show on this Saturday in the Square Mile which is quite interesting. The procession starts from Gresham St which is a minute away from GSMD and there's firework at 5pm (I think).

Just wanted to say congratulations! smile.gif

Although I live out in the sticks now, I did live in London for five years in my youth and it's really not that scary! And as Panthera points out, there is always something going on somewhere! Perhaps you could take a friend along to help you navigate? It seems such a shame to miss this opportunity - do give it some serious consideration! smile.gif

Yes, do go! As a very naive, and not at all self confident 18 year old from Sheffield (and so almost a Derbyshire country girl), I found myself travelling through London every weekend to get to and from a gap year job in Harrow. If I could do it you certainly can!

Well done biggrin.gif

A pity you probably won't be able to hear it, but if you do try the journey, it's not a hard one, and Panthera's given you perfect directions smile.gif

We are so blessed to have such lovely and helpful formutees and a lovely forum, thanks guys for the directions re London.

I was actually in London yesterday with a small group of friends, we were at the RCM for the Nobuya Sugawa masterclass / concert. We got off at St Pancras too, and went on the tube (but to where I have no clue!)

I have promised my children that should my piece win, we will more than likely see it performed at the Purcell room in February and make a weekend of it!

Thanks again guys for the travel advice and nice comments
