Hi,

Just one more question about the Grade 1 Violin pieces! On Fanfare would you do the d.c al coda? Some people have mentioned that repeats are not usually done in abrsm exams?

many thanks

PLay the d.c al coda if the piece would sound strange and unfinished without it. However if it sounds fine without it then don't play it.

Usually repeats are not needed because examiner has already heard you play the section and there is no need for him/her to examine it again.

Also there are time constraints.

I have had quite a few pupils doing the Fanfare and none did the repeat.
(well 1 did but it was an accident..)

But they all did the DC surely?

No to (most) repeats. Yes to DC al Fine. In Fanfare the last bar leads back into the DC so it would sound very odd not to do it.
