Comments welcomed (Please PM anything too harsh!) smile.gif

This was my first time singing solo in public, at the York recital yesterday. We recorded it as everyone was leaving, hence the chatter in the background. The quality isn't great as we just used my digital camera.

Yes - well done! You didn't sound nervous at all - and you would never know you hadn't sung in public before. (Isn't the quality of these digital cameras good these days?)

Very nice, Fiona! smile.gif And Matthew is a great accompanist - aren't you lucky to have your own accompanist handy whenever needed?

I certainly hope there are more public performances in the pipeline. Thanks for being brave enough to share.

I thought this was really lovely, Fiona! Well done.

You have a lovely sounding voice with a nice clear quality to it. Very nice indeed.

If you're looking for constructive criticism - some tongue and lip exercises would help you go further in your technique. Some lower back anchoring would be beneficial too.

Either ways - keep singing! That was a lovely, confident performance and I would certainly like to hear more.

Matthew is very, very good smile.gif

Celeste : I've left comments on the recital thread, suffice to say that I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you sing smile.gif

I'd like to mirror what everyone said: Very well done, lovely voice, I really enjoyed listening to it.

If I wanted to put in a teeeeny bit of constructive criticism: The mentioned confidence didn't last until the very last note, you were already starting to 'switch off' a bit before the song was finished and looked as if you were thinking: 'I was so nervous, I'm glad I made my way through' wink.gif
Always hold the concentration until the very last second, even if you already stopped singing - the song isn't finished until the last note of the accompaniment has been played.

I'd also second rosfrog's thoughts on muscular support/anchoring.

Other than that: Really well done, you can be proud of yourself.

I agree. You have a very nice voice with heaps and heaps of potential!

For a first performance you handled it well smile.gif

I'd like to add that acting makes it a lot easier to get over nerves - feel and express as your character and you can repress the nerves: if your character is not feeling them than why should you?

Good luck in everything smile.gif

Super performance! Just a comment, which has been alluded to by previous posters - really try and show how much you are enjoying the piece, right through to the end. Keep at it. sing.gif

I am not a singer! But i thought your voice was lovely!! I just found that the clip there seemed to be a lot of background noise --- was that people talking?
The only thing i would say, from an audence point of view, why did you stand behind the little table or what ever it was, ---- i think you could have stood more infront, as you are singing to the audience ---- it would have looked even better!!! Well done! wub.gif
