Monday morning and awake to see that it is still raining. We seem to have nothing but rain for days now, at this rate we are going to get floods. Mty brother in law was over from Spain last Thursday and I saw him briefly Friday, I said, " have you brought this over," he replied "no, that he had left subnshine and 25 degrees. Spoke to my son on the phone last night in France and they are still having nice weather.

We already have a fence panel down in the garden from the high winds, lets hope this weather ceases soon before real damage happens.

Yestrday there were huge pools of water where I live in London but the rain ceased. It is very wet at the moment but not raining.

I think I should take an umbrella with me as I trudge off to college.

It's not raining here. tongue.gif I wouldn't want to be in any dangerous situations but I do sort of miss a big blowy storm!

It's very changeable here. Woken by thunder earlier this morning, and sound of rain. Not raining when I got up, has rained heavily since but is bright sunshine now.

Fingers crossed for you ET.

I woke up to really heavy rain and it's still lashing it down. The worst thing though is the darkness - it looks as if it's not going to get properly light at all today.

I can't complain too much though - it was a lovely sunny day all day yesterday, and it didn't rain at all last week until Saturday.

It's a deluge here too - can't see through the windows and it's dark as well. I am beginning to regret my environmentally friendly decision to get rid of the tumble dryer. I suppose I could rinse the washing in the garden...
I've been rigorously re-using dishwater for watering all year and now feel, looking at the flooded garden, that the environment is having a laugh.

We had the storm on Saturday, hope it doesn't come back today as I don't think that you are that far away from me are you? My son is really nervous of the thunder, Saturday he didn't want to go to tennis as he didn't want to go out in it, can't say I blame him. He went to bed instead and I couldn't believe that he slept for 3 hours in the afternoon - unheard of! I think it was because he was awake in the early hours with the thunder and got himself all worked up. I dread to think of what he will be like in school if we get the thunder again today - must get it from me, yet I have stayed calm on the outside in front of him, even if I am quivering inside.

It is strange isn't it, we always assume that better weather is in the south, well obviously not in this case. Glad that you got some nice sunshine, hope that this awful rain doesn't find its way up to you.

It has rained a lot in Holland too, but at least over here the authorities are experts in water management. It would have to be really bad before there was any flooding, and even then the powers that be would choose which areas to allow to flood, and give everyone plenty of warning.

[Unlike the UK where they build on flood plains, fiddle with natural water courses, concrete over natural soakaways, then seem surprised every few years when heavy rains cause flooding]

On Friday we had a battering with winds and rain. I had to move a tree off the road to get home and we had one lurching in the garden at a very odd angle. sad.gif

Saturday was clear but windy.

Sunday I did a 30km walk on Dartmoor in perfect walking conditions sunny with a stiff breeze. I kept pinching myself and saying is this really mid November. The rivers were up (an interesting river crossing) and the ground was wet, but what a super day. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I have to say, fair play to our local authorities this time, we live in Gloucestershire which bore the brunt of the summer floods a couple of years ago, and they have done an awful lot of work on the drainage and roads where many of the non river related floods occurred and so far this year the roads have remained passable with little more than big puddles.

Well the sun is shining and the clouds are clearing - lets hope it is going away properly and doesn't decide to come back. I need to get out to town to buy a birthday present and some football boots and birthday cards. Problem is that I am waiting for parcels to arrive, I am a bit fed up that Royal Mail left me a card on Friday and I requested delivery today - well the postman has been and no parcel! Still got to wait in for Marks and Spencers though.

I wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow as if I can't get out early enough today it will have to be tomorrow!

We had some rain recently here in North Italy but we're in a strange area where we don't get much wind. So when we visit relatives in the UK, that's the first thing we notice - usually walking down the aircraft steps!!

Drizzle is very rare here. It rains...ie rains hard...then stops and the sun comes out. Earlier this year we had incredibly long thunderstorms and discovered the hidden drains under our house when one exploded and filled our basement with water.

Since our post is delivered by pretty girls on mopeds, when it rains, we don't get post. Very simple! wink.gif

We had some 'proper' rain earlier. Not the horrible drizzly stuff that makes you smell of damp, but proper wet rain that gets everywhere. Typical that it stopped as soon as I got inside the chemistry lab isn't it! laugh.gif tongue.gif

There were six exceedingly wet forumites walking to the Pizza Express in York the Saturday just gone...
