I saw the Coke advert - it must be Christmas

I have yet to see the coke advert. However I have not been watching a lot of non BBC TV recently.

I haven't seen it either sad.gif

I bought my Advent calender and candle yesterday, and some books for husband and sons (the easy part). I've also issued instructions to those same people that they can't buy anything for themselves between now and Christmas. My husband in particular became very good at coming home about a week before Christmas saying 'Look, I've got myself a [insert here the thing that I'd already bought as his present]' mad.gif He knows better now. I've given due warning and any breach of the rules will be severely dealt with laugh.gif

Yes I have to do that too, esp. to Sonny Jim who's really good at buying what you've just bought for him. Grr.

I'm not normally keen on Christmas but this year I'd started feeling a bit excited and I've done quite well on the present-buying front, until I went to a garden centre earlier - I didn't mind all the Christmassy stuff being out in November because once it gets to December, the time just flies, but do they have to have the Christmas/snowtime music... I'd have stayed longer but I couldn't bear it any longer ill.gif

I manage a show site for garden buildings based in a large garden centre, and have recently supplied them with a nice new shed for use as Santa's grotto. Christmas started on the late August bank holiday weekend when the advent calendars were put on sale. People are flocking to buy real christmas trees (hope they know how to look after them for the next 5/6 weeks) and scrambling to buy "stocking fillers".

I have to walk the long way round to my office to avoid the christmas music. Although I will try and sell them a copy of my a capella group's CD! wink.gif

I spent all yesterday afternoon going from one supermarket to another trying to buy an artificial Christmas tree. I need it for our Junior School Christmas Celebration. Rehearsals are underway and in one scene the children have to decorate and dance round a Christmas tree. For practical reasons an artificial tree will be easier to cope with than a real one. Four supermarkets advertised them as on sale from 17th November and each one said they had not yet received them.

I also wanted gold and silver paper and tinsel to make some stars. I found some measly and expensive tinsel in the last shop. GRRRRRR !

I saw it last week smile.gif

Apparently, my mum has bought our Advent calendars (she's promised that it's none of that crumbly excuse for chocolate you get it in the cheap stores laugh.gif I'm all for bargains, but I draw the line at chocolate) but we're not allowed to see them until the thirtieth of November. dry.gif

Wow! laugh.gif Speaking of Barbie, I watched Barbie and the Rockers a few weeks ago... it was one of my favourite things to watch when I was a kid!

Advent calendars. sad.gif I don't like the idea of buying one for myself, but no-one else is likely to, so I think I'll try to go without one this year.

(Ergh, I want to be a child forever.)

Me too sad.gif I'll be 19 in April, which will be the last year of my teens. It's more depressing than it sounds... And then I have turning thirty to 'look forward' to ph34r.gif

I buy my own every year biggrin.gif I have to, because if I only bought one, I'd have to fight the boys for window-opening opportunities. This way they take turns and I get to open a window everyday smile.gif I also have an advent candle, and maybe this year I'll remember to do it every day, instead of forgetting for days on end and then almost burning the house down (I won't be using that particular wooden candlestick again sad.gif)ph34r.gif
