quite distraught at the moment ....didn't expect to end my flute lessons this weekend...but felt I had to...grade 4 coming up (in less than 4 weeks)...my lovely teacher seems to have lost faith in me and was mean to me and made me cry. Maybe I'm just being a baby?! But I feel really sad about being with a fab teacher for 3 years who has supported me and then it's all gone......in one lesson. There is more to the story but I don't want the details over the net....have found a new teacher now but am really going to miss my old teacher and wish it hadn't happened.

You're a good flautist fd, I really hope you show the examiner what you can do in your grade 4 smile.gif

Really sorry to hear about this, especially as you've had three good years with the teacher. Is the situation really irretrievable?

I'm not surprised you feel so upset though. sad.gif sad.gif

He is still going to teach me clarinet...but ...I wasn't really ready to end my lessons...and feel like there's something missing....we are obviously still friends but I wanted to remember good lessons not remember a really sad one!:-(

Obviously there's more to this story than there is here. It seems really strange that you change to a different teacher for flute because your teacher upset you, yet you continue with the same teacher for clarinet. I think I'd have left the teacher completely instead of just having clarinet lessons with him. Being upset is understandable and it's unfortunate it happened so close to your exam. Do you think the pressure of the exam contributed to the situation?

All the best for your grade 4 exam. Hope you do well!

Thanks for the good wishes! ...Yes I know it might seem strange to continue with clarinet..but with the clari..I'm not doing grades and there's no stress with exams etc...and we play lots of jazz pieces....and I miss my teacher teaching me after building up a rapour for 3 years.....and having some really fun lessons.

Life is too short to have the wrong teacher. If this is the right teacher for you then build bridges and return to them for the flute. If the incident was so huge that you can't rebuild the relationship then move on to your new teacher but don't have regrets. Pick which is best for you and then make it happen.
