I've searched for "how to unregister" information without finding anything, and PM'd 2 moderators asking them to unregister me (the others had full mailboxes anyway)...but 10 days later I'm still here. huh.gif

This is an embarrassing question...but does anybody know how to disappear?
stetenorve
Dear all ears,

sincerely hope that nobody replies to your post, as we don't want to lose you!

I should really have said the first thing first, which is...thank you all for the fun, and also for all I've learned since I first signed on trying to figure out what Viohazard could expect in his G5 violin exam.

There's no angsty background or cloak and dagger stuff (sorry!), just need to concentrate on raking in the cash for a while...when I find my rake and a suitable spot for raking, that is. Viohazard is not closing his account, and when he can overcome his dislike of writing (especially in English), he may pop in from time to time.

Sorry to hear you're going sad.gif One of the mods should really be answering you. Did you try EdGJ ?
I dont think there's a way of deregistering yourself. goodLuck.gif

Oh, all ears, I'm so sorry that you're thinking of going sad.gif .

Could you not just stop posting rather than deregister???

Very sad to hear of your financial problems and the need to get a big rake out...

All the best to you, Mr Ears, Airman and Viohazard - and hope you don't disappear for good..

I also hope that you don't disappear permanently All Ears - have always enjoyed reading your posts and would be very sorry not to 'see you around'.

Why don't you just ask for an account suspension? I did this when I needed to get some study/work done!

If I ever want to deregister from a forum for a specific reason I change my email address to one that does not exist. You cannot therefore verify the email address and your account becomes locked.

But that said, unless you are trying to make sure you don't get sucked into posting again on a thread you are trying to ignore, there is no benefit to deregistration, the forum will eventually drop your membership when the "close members who have not posted in x time" comes, whatever that is set to.

I *think* that's a fairly unlimited time, there are plenty of active accounts here that haven't been used for years...

How does that work? To derigister you need to be registered in the first place which means you have an active account which has been already verified via your email address. Changing your email address after you are registered and posting won't deregister an account. Or am I being thick here?
Changing your email address won't exactly deregister your account, but will deactivate it. The only way to re-activate it again / validate your email address change is to click on a link on the email that is sent to your new email account.

Thanks for the hints...I waited till I had some news...and the news is bad for Mr Ears but good for me, as I have a new job from next April...hanging out for that first paycheck! I really have to thank good friends, who rallied round and let me know about job opportunities so I could put my application in promptly.

Further piece of good news is that the J government just passed a piece of legislation giving some protection to people with house loans...some banks recently have been foreclosing on people who missed even one mortgage repayment date.

Airman got into the aerospace engineering course of his choice, at a public university, which means that courses like that one don't cost more than any other course. His first year of study is covered by savings..so we have some time to get into gear.

Don't see the return of music lessons unless the Ears economy can gain a bit more traction, but I will be well pleased to be able to keep a roof over our heads and Viohazard in high school.

So glad that some silver lining is shining through. Best of luck when you start your new job, and for Airman on his course - it sounds from his forum name as though it's something rather special to him smile.gif

Sounds like a really difficult situation.

Hope things continue to improve for you.

Best wishes.

At least things are better than you feared - and you never know what's around the corner! So pleased to hear about Airman getting onto the course he wanted, and I hope you enjoy your new job when April comes. smile.gif

Best wishes for the future - it was great to read some good news in your post.

Don't close the door, All Ears - we all have dips, and there have been times when your posts have helped with keeping my own sons' activities in perspective. I can well relate to the longing not to have the potential distraction of the Forum when life is too hectic. When I've got too much on i simply log off and then even if I want to reply to something I've read I've probably forgotten my password so that it has to take deliberate effort to come back in again.

But I'm back again.....

I appreciate the Japanese problem, as that is where my hubby's business interests lie too, although we are based in the UK. Great to hear that there may be better times around the corner - fingers crossed and very best wishes for a better 2010. Keep going and keep well, look after yourself,
