Yes. Good luck (not that you need luck!)

All the best for an hour's time then Sol. Let's hope that fingersCrossed.gif + piano.gif = biggrin.gif (smiley Sol after the exam)

(Not to mention all the hard work you've put in to bias that equation wink.gif )

Oh well, I'm back. Kicking myself a bit as my little finger missed the bottom C on Top Cat and I made a few other slips on the A piece. Funnily enough the B piece was the best and I usually mess that one up. Made a slip on my A major contrary too, argh!

Annoyingly I played everything fine in the warm up room but cracked under the pressure of the exam wacko.gif

Don't think I did too badly though - didn't do enough to get the marks I want. Now it's a case of playing the waiting game sad.gif

PS: I really want an acoustic piano now... I'm beginning to hate my digital, despite it being "top of the range" when I bought it. It just sounds too clean and there's something fundamental missing from the sound.

All the best for a good result, Sol. Sounds like you've passed anyway, by the way you describe things. A pass is a pass so don't be too disappointed if the marks aren't what you were hoping for. Onwards and upwards! smile.gif

Ah well, I'm laughing about it now. I got 139 in my mock with my teacher last night, so at least if I got rubbish marks today I know it's down to nerves and not an overall reflection of my playing. smile.gif

I'm going to the pub... Tata! smile.gif

glad it's over! the things you describe sound so typical of an exam! nevertheless, you've probably done fine. Hoe the wait is a relatively short one. My exams aren't until next week.

cheers ...

fingersCrossed.gif for a well deserved good result. Enjoy the beer biggrin.gif

Well done, Sol! Almost everyone makes a few mistakes in the exam room with an unfamiliar piano, but it's all experience.

Bet you get a cracking mark anyway. smile.gif

Sounds like you have done really well, well done Sol, I don't think any of us ever get what we get in our mock exams, unless of course you don't get nervous. Mind you, you never know, you might have done!

Look forward to hearing your result, sometimes you can hear in as little as a week, mine however, took 3 weeks.

It sounds like you've done a good job Sol. Best of luck for the result! smile.gif

I've sat down and been quite generous with myself and worked out:

15 for scales, 17 for Aural, 25 for Piece A, 29 for piece B as I got told it was "absolutely lovely", 26 for piece C, 18 for sight reading.

That is an absolute scrape on distinction @ 130 :S

If I scrape it I will be shocked, but in my heart, I am expecting around 120-122.

*shrug*

Screw it, I am moving on and forgetting the whole thing. Now it's out of the way I will be working on the Mozart Fantasia in D Minor, Massenet Meditation from Thais, Schubert Moments Musicaux #3, Mozart K545 Andante and all sorts of stuff instead of bashing over the same old stuff week after week smile.gif I also read through the first page of the Chopin Valse 15 before going out although I can't do the trills.

My teacher heard me play in the warm up room and knows what I can do, even if I completely screwed it up in front of the examiner. That's what matters smile.gif

It sounds like you've done well, Solari - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you smile.gif

29 for piece B as I got told it was "absolutely lovely"

I'm very envious of this comment - my ambition is to play so beautifully that the examiner is touched by it. Don't see it happening any time soon though wink.gif

Yup - what matters is the music - don't get too hung up on a number. smile.gif

Who cares what mark Stephen Hough got for grade 5? Does he even remember? Did he even take it?

We're musicians not number crunchers. Enjoy the new stuff.

I really liked that piece and was determined to do it justice. smile.gif I really didn't give two hoots about the other two. Perhaps that tells me that I should be a bit more careful in my choice of pieces if I do another exam?

Sounds like you did really well Sol.
