I can't pick up from just any place... but there are usually plenty of places in a piece I can pick up from quite easily. But I do tend to rely on the music in front of me anyway. The things I do memorise (usually without trying) are those with a very obvious harmonic structure.

Yes, like when there is a change in key, or section, I'm ok, on my exam pieces that is, and other pieces usually have a place like that which makes it slightly easier.

It's great when you can just chat about common interests with someone who understands how you feel about something so passionatley.

My friend and I do it all the time.

Our hubbies don't have a clue what inversions are and harmonies etc. They don't really want to know either !
