Be prepared to have people thinking you're crazy! I voted for scales.

I voted for scales, because as long as you prepare them in advance they are fine!

I think aural's the HARDEST, especially if you're not a singer like myself!

I voted for scales but I don't think aural tests are that difficult either

It's a welcome break from playing all the pieces, which for me take the most concentration and are most difficult!

Scales without a doubt.
They are so much a part of normal routine.
Something of a comfort blanket, a nice safe place to be.

I think the pieces are the easiest 'cause we have plenty of time to prepare for it.

In order of difficulty, starting with the easiest:
Sightreading

Scales are eeeeeeeeeeeevil. They take up so much practise time!!!!

I find prepared pieces and sight-reading easy. I also find aural easy. In fact, I find everything pretty much ok apart from scales! If you hear the examiner wrongly e.g. major instead of minor then u get a lower mark. not that much lower but still.........

How can people find sight reading easy?
Is there any tricks I should know of?

I find scales quite simple. It's the sight singing that I can't do because I can't sing in tune!

I find aural easy, as its an everyday part of music really.

I think scales are the easiest. Everything is set in 'stone'. It is just a case on really knuckling down and practising them. Unlike pieces, there is not the issue of a clash of interpretation. With your three pieces, whilst you and/or your teacher may consider one thing, the examiner on the day might disagree with you, even though you will spend most of your practice on pieces. Sight reading like scales comes with practice (for those who aren't natural sight-readers). I think getting into a routine helps. A similar thing could be said for aural tests.

I think the bit most people find easiest is getting off the stool and walking out the door

Maggie, I'd have to disagree. Staggering out of my Grade 8 singing exam wasn't at all easy - my whole body including my legs were shaking so much - collapsing in a heap in the car was, though

. Leaving my programme list in the waiting room was so effortless I didn't even think about it as I was doing it
Cheers

HEy...i tink sightreading is ta hardest. I just cant read and play at the same time. I was lucky as my last exam i got an adagio passage so i took it really slowly! but i stil missed all my sharps and flats...Scales is the easiest since its just practise..unlike aural n sightreading which takes some skill..However the pieces are the most fun and enjoyable..Scales are the most boring
