Boy am I glad that's out the way!

Could have gone better, but could have also gone worse.

Amazingly I think I nailed the aurals, even though in my last lesson I couldn't even sing the key note when it was played for me!

Pieces were okay, just a couple of tiny fluffs which I managed to keep going through, so hopefully a solid pass and maybe even a merit.

Sight reading was a little stilted, but the notes were okay and there was even a hint of dynamics which will please my teacher.

If anyone's interested I filmed my exam pieces just before the main event to try and sort my nerves:

Good luck! I love the Gnossiene #3, that's on my "to do" list biggrin.gif

It's a lovely piece, but I still can't decide whether it's really hard or really easy!?

Managed to 'get a tune out of it' within minutes of picking it up, but them seemingly spent months trying to perfect the big jumps in the left hand without mashing half a dozen extra keys.

I thought the Gnossiene #1 was easy and memorised that in a few days, but after playing it to my teacher, I realised that there's a lot more to it. With these type of pieces, it seems that it's all about making it interesting and keeping the listener's attention, otherwise it just sounds like a piece of music that's on loop smile.gif

I liked what she said about the end of the #1 and slowing it down as if it were a wind up dancing doll running out of "steam".

Well done on doing your Grade 6 piano.

My friends daughter did her Grade 6 on Monday, haven't heard how it went yet though. Really hope that the little girl has done well this time as she failed it back in June by 3 marks.

I'm feeling pretty relaxed about it now, but I'm sure the suspense will start gnawing away at me soon!

Still, it's my first grade 6 theory lesson tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have plenty to keep me distracted!
