Christmas is coming!

I have started doing some online Christmas shopping now and am wondering if you know any nice music-related presents you can recommend for young music loving children - age 10-15.
I already have "A Friendly Guide for children" (I like this book). What are you going to get for your kids?

I am thinking vaguely about an electric violin but don't know if I could bear the noise!

hmmm, well although I'm not a parent...more actually IN that age bracket...
Itunes vouchers if said children are Ipod owners, HMV vouchers if not
Musical Posters
Case stickers if they play an instrument with a case...
Sheet music which they WANT to learn...or vouchers for it if you don't know what they do want to learn!!
A microphone that you can plug in to laptop/computer and they can record themselves playing?
I just love general music things, like pencils with violins on and badges and all that sort of thing...

On daughter's Christmas list
Musicians earplugs (needs them before) to block out bagpipes
Music stand light.
Pegs for sheet music
She would like a Soprano or Sopranino Sax but that's not going to happen as all my spare money has gone towards the Cor.

My son has had a lot of fun in the past with
i) harmonica
ii) melodica
iii) ukulele
none of these are very expensive and musical kids can have a lot of fun just 'messing about' with them
If you can stretch to a basic tuition book on whichever you select too as a stocking filler ..... hours of enjoyment

For slightly younger children, this book is super
My First Classical Music Book. It went down very well with my 8 year old and a friend's 10 year old. The book on musical instruments is excellent too and would suit a slightly older child.

Those clip on metronome/tuners are quite good stocking fillers.

A pencil with 'I love my (violin, cello, flute etc.)' written on it! You can get them from ebay I think.

Look at the musicroom web site, and click on gifts. They often have interesting stocking fillers.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band Beatles have been very popular here.
All Flutes Plus sell fabric mats to put a flute on. They come in a range of colours. Purple did it for us.

metronome (there are some good fun ones)
instrument stand (especially brass/woodwind players)
interesting shaped mutes (especially brass players)
pencils etc
itunes vouchers
concert/gig tickets
good instrument case (especially string players)
bow upgrade......
We've given all of the above in recent years to our mob.
Keep the ideas coming!
