Seeing as the "Noughties" (horrible term, that) are coming to the end, what is your top moment of the last ten years?

Mine is meeting my boyfriend back in 2002 (internet)/2003 (real life)

The highlight of the decade has been Retiring --> taking up the flute --> meeting up with you lot! laugh.gif

I turned 20 at the end of 1999 so the last decade for me was about being a 20-something: not anymore a poor student with no money to my name, but also no big responsibilities (like children or big mortgages). What could be better? biggrin.gif

...well if you can have two !! tongue.gif

my daughter was born 9.15am 30th September, 2002

(after losing the baby due 23rd March, 2002)

and discovering that I was allowed to do something for myself, and therefore beginning piano lessons, which has led to the big wide world of music piano.gif

It's been a decade of such extremes that I guess the highs stick out even more....

Restarting learning the recorder in 2003, finally cracking the grade 7 gremlin in 2004, reaching that only-ever-dreamed-of grade 8 in 2005, ATCL in 2006, LGSMD in 2008, the two latter being beyond anything ever dreamed of. Joining the fora and meeting some fantastic fellow musicians and making some very good friends who mean a lot well beyond the music too. Being invited to YAP and APs wedding belongs in there as well.

Edit: goodness me, how could I forget? Playing Bach's fourth Brandenburg Concerto, a dream of some twenty years' standing. Highlight of a lifetime, that biggrin.gif.

I'll not go into the lows. Suffice it to say that they've none of them been linked with music, whereas most of the highs have smile.gif.

Highlights plural rather than highlight singular:

Seeing my elder son selected to play Chess for England

Seeing my younger son in the title role of Jesus Christ Superstar

Being the headline act at a folk club for the first time

Rediscovering the piano and subsequently passing grade 8

Discovering the flute & passing grade 7 with distinction only 21 months later (the only distinction I have ever had in a practical exam)

Being involved in the Bowel Cancer Screening Program - it saves lives and is the best thing I've been involved with professionally.

My life sucks.

My life sucks.
It can't be all bad when you can play the recorder as brilliantly as you do, and are able to give enormous pleasure to people like me who listened with great admiration to you at Dyrham last year.

I hope you get a better break this decade, Aeolienne.
