StuMac, that is what I thought too, but I looked at a brochure I saw in the EPTA magazine, which I received on Monday, and I think you go home after lunch on the sixth day. Goes of to check facts ..... I am really excited about this course and, like Solari, can't wait until August.
I think before lunch on day 6 will be so choatic that it won't be possible to do much! All the staff will be checking in new arrivals etc.

I could be wrong but I suspect that next year will be back to the two-full-weeks format, each running from Saturday to Saturday. I hope so anyway.

Ahhh yes - I have this particular problem too. Currently trying to butter up hubby / leaving hints (the brochure on my desk with the post it that says CAN I GO TO THIS) so I can go to both but we'll see how it goes.

I know from my bank statement that they have cashed the cheque I sent but I haven't received any acknowledgment from them yet either. But it is still very early and don't expect anything for quite a while.
I wouldn't worry about not being able to play anything fluently! That makes 2 of us!
Once in a while, I wonder if I should maybe have waited another couple of years to go there as I am still a beginner but then I remind myself of why I'm going: learn (it is amazing the amount you learn by listening to people play!) and enjoy myself in a wonderful environment and surrounded by great people (definitely not to perform!!!

).
See you in August!

After talking to several people at the Teddington concert about chets, I've been looking at their website and searching deep in my piggybank and wondering if I am really good enough for it this year. I've now made an enquiry about the 2nd week and they do have a place still and think I would be OK to cope ..... So I just need to take the plunge and send off application form.!
Oh and get a job to pay for it as piggybank was empty. So there may be another forumite to add to the already expansive number! I'm half scared and half excited at the prospect!!

Only 4 months to go! I'm glad I signed up for this now as I was a bit dubious about it at the time. Quite happy that I think I'll qualify for minimum standard by August and that I'll have stuff to study and work on that won't feel trivial while I'm there!

Slightly off topic but have a great time at the sight-reading course in Benslow at the weekend. I wanted to go myself but have other commitments.

I went for the first time last year.
Sorry I can't help about the scholarship. I was on the Adult amateur course and will be again.
Don't know about the accommodation for under 18s but if it's the same as the adults you have your own room.
As for the best teacher... I'm hardly advanced enough for it to matter much to me and I haven't asked for anyone in particular especially since the teacher I had last year is not there this year. I think that one reason for asking for a particular teacher is because you particularly admire their playing. Another reason may be because your own teacher thinks that someone would be good for you to work with.
Don't worry about not being as good as anyone else as it's not really a competitive environment.
Also you can always ring or email to ask any questions you may have or to find out about things that may be worrying you a bit before you go. They are very helpful if you do this.

Does anyone know what the youngest age is to attend Chets as I would like to observe children's lessons? I don't know how it works but do people tend to be aware of who is teaching the lesson and perhaps observe the lesson for that reason. If so, how will I know which lessons to go to if I want to observe children's lessons. I hope this makes sense. Also are the rooms ensuite; probably not, I imagine.

Yes, the rooms are ensuite (with shower). Adults get their own room, kids generally share. All ages are welcome on the course, it's just that under 10s have to be accompanied by an adult. I don't know how you could work out which lessons to watch, except by going round & looking, or getting to know some of the kids & going to their lessons. There are lists up for all the lessons (stating teacher, student & room), but they don't specify whether they are adults or kids. If you wander round & look, you can see into all the rooms & the teacher's name should be on the door. You'll get to know them, anyway.

You don't need taxi. Chets is right next to Victoria station so just take the tram (Metrolink) from Picadilly station.
