but takin grade 3 in march

What???? I'm confused. If you're Grade 8, why not do Grade 8 or Grade 6/7 first for practice if you've not done an exam before. blink.gif

1. No need to shout, you can't blame the other person for asking, you're not making any sense.

2. Stop talking like a retard. You type like a 4 year old.

To answer the question: I've not taken any exams yet, I've only been playing since august, although from looking at the grading pieces and some of the pieces in the books that I have, I would say I'm at grade 2 as I can play grade 1 stuff with no problems and the grade 3 stuff is still too hard. Plus I can do the necessary scales for grade 1. My theory is all over the place. I know some grade 3/4/5 theory thanks to being surrounded by very musical friends, but at the same time I expect I don't know some grade 1or 2 theory.

That's probably a longer answer than you wanted!

Now that's not nice!! mad.gif Please don't be mean, it's easy to accidentally leave on caps lock...

I'm grade 2. Probably about Gr 3/4 maybe 5 in theory though.

I wasn't referring to the caps, I'd addressed that in point number one. I was referring to the idiotic spellings.

PLEASE theres soooooo much more to playing an instrument that what grade you're at. Ive only done grade 3 so far.

my friend also plays clarinet, she's been playing since she was in year 3 and she's done a grade EVERY YEAR!!!!!!

she's now aiming for grade 7, but i'm still the one that is asked to play the clarinet solos in the school orchestra.

exams don't make you a good musician.

That's a very good point. People seem to think that if you have done a grade means that you are a great musician. I know a clarinet who has done grade 8, yet I can probably play btter than her at grade 5. This is because she has only ever played exam pieces, even when she first started. She has always failed her sightreading and her aural is dreadful, yet everyone thinks she is a good musician since she has done grade 8. Experience is the thing that matters, not what grade you are on.

hee like me then!

I bet your aural is fine! They say that the examiner is the harshest critic, I think we are the ones who critisise ourselves too much.
