The National Trust has asked for the number of performers to be limited, and we are already up to the limit. However, a couple of people who want to come have said that they may need to drop out, so if this happens and you would be interested in taking their place, let me know by email if you have my address, or otherwise by PM.
Pianists need to be of an advanced standard (minimum G6/7), and to play classical repertoire suitable to the ambience of the surroundings. It's quite informal in the sense that there is no running order - participants just take their turn as and when. In total, each performer would have around 20-40 minutes of playing time, so it is ideal for anyone who wants to perform a recital piece, although it's fine if people want to play shorter pieces on and off through the day.
There is no "sitting audience" but visitors pass through the hall where the piano is situated and sometimes stop to listen. It's much less pressure than performing in a concert situation, but performers need to be reasonable comfortable about playing in public and able to give a reasonably confident performance.
There will also be a few woodwind players but the event is mainly for pianists to perform in public on a nice grand. (Incidentally the "musical house party" which is taking place not far from Dyrham Park on the same weekend is now full and I'm not planning to operate a reserve list for the house party.)
I'll shortly be sending out application forms for attendees to confirm their "booking", and I should know by early/mid March whether there will be any vacancies. If so, I'll be able to offer the place to somebody on the reserve list, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested
