My piano's a Schreiber - before you ask, NO it's not from MFI! It's a German made piano and was made/bought in the early '70s. It has quite a light bright touch.

The piano at the local examining centre has much deeper, heavier keys........and a middle pedal. Thereby hangs a tale (but only if you've forgotten to forewarn pupils when taking exams!)

I've got a Clavinova which is great, partly because it can go in the back of the car if required. Detatched house means I don't need to use headphones, but the neighbours must think we're bonkers putting pianos in the back of the car!

I'd love a Steinway, but Mr NatWest says no (oh, and being realistic, house isn't quite big enough - unless the piano doubles as a dining table laugh.gif with a splash of ohmy.gif ). There was a Steinway available at college - sitting at a full size Steinway grand in full sail is the business! You've no idea how much it massaged my ego!!! The action was stiff, especially compared to my Clavinova, but nowhere near as stiff as the piano in my landlady's house (can't remember which make).

At my local centre the examiner has always warned about keeping off the middle pedal at the start or the exam.

Who knows what mine is, its an old clunky thing and the F# doesn't work.

And now, the Bb's above and below middle C don't work, D above middle C, B above middle C, D two octaves below middle C, the list could go on forever!

My Piano's in Ab....

our first piano was about 3 whole tones flat. meant you seemed to be able to sing really high though!
