** April Grand Gathering - Event 3.5! wink.gif **

** Sunday April 11th, 12pm-4pm **

IPB Image
Grade 1 and upwards

4 Hours (with 20-30 min interval) - Maximum of 12 pianists.

As before, this is not a concert and is aimed at those who want to gain experience playing in front of others (as well as on a Steinway grand) in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. A great opportunity to take a stab at conquering fears of performing.

Date: Sunday April 11th. 12pm-4pm - with a 20 min break.
Venue: 1901 Arts Club, Exton Street, London (Waterloo)
Slots: Up to 17/18 minutes total per player (not necessarily all at once).

The whole point of this is that if things all go wrong, you can walk away and won't be judged at all. smile.gif

As for afterwards - shall we just go to the Doom Bar or do we want drinks upstairs at the venue?

Registered Interest:
(bold = confirmed)

Barry Clari (Clarinet/piano)
- Will be fashionably late!

biggrin.gif Thanks Barry, Sol. It was a tough decision...Doom bar-Christening...Christening..Doom Bar? unsure.gif You'll have to hold my fans off until next time! Perhaps Missy or Panthera would be interested in my Milk Tray Man. I won't be offended...honest! tongue.gif

If that's the Milk Tray Man, I have a suspicion they may plump for Dairy Box... laugh.gif

Hi Solari,

Checked diary and would love to come but have a family commitment sad.gif so will have to decline this time and hope to be able to come to the next one smile.gif

Hope you all have a great day, wish I was coming !! smile.gif

Solari
Shame you can't make it, pianophrase.

We could still fit in another couple of people smile.gif

Has anyone heard from Pianissimole? Wondering if he fancies it?
barry-clari
OK...I'll do a little piano solo in April.

It will sound like nothing on earth, so do bring earplugs laugh.gif
scotliz
I would love to come but I will be in Canada.
Solari
Sadly, Panthera and Tom Piano can't make it! This leaves us with 4 or 5 slots empty... I've asked my teacher if she has any other students that would be interested but if anyone else on here is interested, or if they have students who may be keen, please let me know. smile.gif

Advanced players are especially welcome smile.gif
PianissiMole
Sorry, I've not been at all active on the forum recently. I would love to come, but just waiting to see if another engagement is going to change, in which case I'll be there smile.gif

Aye aye, I can't wait to get my hands on that piano again smile.gif It's gorgeous! We get longer on it too as there are fewer people this time around.. Shame I haven't prepared much new stuff but ah well!
Invidia
just confirming I can still make it =]

I can't decide what to play though so expect me to turn up weighed down by a bag full of scores and picking on impulse >.<

you say we get longer? how much is longer?
Solari
QUOTE(Invidia @ Mar 31 2010, 01:20 AM) *

Well, considering we have 4 hours, we could manage 20 mins each if we really wanted to (we'll have a 20 minute tea break at some point), but I doubt everyone will want that much, so if we wanted, we could just have a bit of fun with some of us trying out some improv and the like? smile.gif

We might get a few people wanting to attend at the last minute though, you never know (I did ask my teacher if any of her other students would fancy it but haven't heard anything yet). smile.gif

It's a very informal event, and people play as and when they feel like it - there's no programme, I just keep track of roughly how long people have played for, so no-one gets short changed. smile.gif

If I brush some stuff up, I might be able to manage 20 mins, I'll see how it goes!
Invidia
That sounds good =]

I could probably do 20 mins as well. I have a competition and a uni exam this month/May that are both 15 mins so I'd only have to add another thing to either of those programs which is do-able (Y)

I won't need anywhere close to 20 minutes...

I went out in the week and bought the current ABRSM grade 1 and 2 piano books, for use in these gatherings...

Righty-ho, any preference on where to eat? I shall make a decision and post back if not. How many are up for food after?

I'm happy with whatever. If we want to do curry again, that curry house was pretty good. If you have better ideas, fire away smile.gif

I am happy to go wherever, like Sol, I really liked the curry house so I would be happy to eat there again. If we are eating somewhere else, I don't mind where so long as they have a vegetarian option.

I will leave after eating, anyone else going back to Waterloo East then as I don't want to go on my own?

Sol are you up for meeting me at Waterloo East as usual, only I wont have Pianphrase, DC, or Barri Clari?

No problem, the curry house is opposite so I can walk you back to Waterloo/E, then I'll leg it to the pub (can you hear that loud thumping noise? That's the sound of me falling off the wagon...) smile.gif
PianissiMole
I am definitely up for food afterwards. I'd (slightly) prefer not curry but I'll go with the majority smile.gif

I'm always looking for new places to eat, so I would prefer to go somewhere other than the curry place. There is a Cuban place on The Cut that looks good but it is sadly closed on sundays. I shall take a hike down there and check out the options.

As I say Jo I really don't mind so long as there is a veggie option. It is really kind of you checking this out for us. Thank you.

Unfortunately I dont have an accompanist for Sunday - does anyone feel up for joining me? It's the 2nd movement of the Saint Saens clarinet sonata

I dont think the piano part is too challenging - so my daughter tells me - and can be downloaded here

http://imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/f/f8...ns-cl-piano.pdf

I would be happy to just have a run through in the coffee break rather than a 'proper' performance

I'll do it- could run through in break then give a 'proper' performance a try afterwards if it goes well?

Also, food wise, I'll probably have to head off when it finishes as I have a lot of practise and revision to do; but I'll see on the day.

Well, I'll have a go at a couple of pieces from the ABRSM blue books on Sunday. Unless anyone really wants me to play it, I'll leave the clari behind. smile.gif

Sent a PM out to those who I don't think have my # in case of any issues.

See you all there on Sunday smile.gif
