I thought it might be an idea to get this in early!

How about a Christmas Concert in early December? All Instruments... I'd be happy to organise... Or is this covered in the November playday?

Sol (planning to play some Jazz Xmas Piano! tongue.gif)

The November playday will be purely a mass orchestral ensemble, Sol. smile.gif

I certainly think you'd get the numbers to go to the 1901 club or similar, yes. I can't do 4th though, and would be missing out on the Doom Bar (but able to go to the gig) on 18th... smile.gif

Sounds very nice!
I would love to join in and to listen to your Jazz Christmas Piano! (I must do some jazzy by oboe then. or Clarinet?)

I am not sure at the moment - but surely I have my orchestra concert beginning of December. normally the first Saturday so maybe 4 Dec... ?
Anyway, please fix the date and I will wait for next season's schedule. And if I am free, I would join in you!

December 11th, perhaps? I'd quite like to get a large-ish venue so we can invite friends and family (max of 2 per person?). Should be quite affordable if we do it that way smile.gif

Not sure about location either... will London cause groans? Should I look for somewhere more central England?

Oh Missypiano! I think we might just have an opportunity for doing our song biggrin.gif

11th is fine : and I think a lot of people may want to make a weekend of it, so London sounds a good place for a bit of a play and a bit of a trawl round the shops! biggrin.gif

Do you have thoughts as to possible venues? I might have a few thoughts for you Sol, I'll get round to PM-ing them to you... smile.gif

Great - thanks, Barry! smile.gif

Bluthners in Mayfair hire out there place for concerts. Might be worth a look.

Won't Mayfair be expensive?
margaret
I've got a feeling they only charge a nominal amount. I could always check it necessary.

I'm interested if the date is one I can do.

Hi Sue

I would like to ask you piano accompany, if you don't mind....
(again, depend on the date we can do or not...) wink.gif

I'll get back to this thread... I have a list of venues and need to do some digging.

Likely date is the 11th, although if nothing's available, then I'll do the 4th. I might even put it to a vote to save faffing around smile.gif

11th fine, 4th I couldn't do - but obviously go with what you can as regards venues. smile.gif

Would be interested depending on date and venue.

Hopefully I should have some more info in the next week. I've put the feelers out with a few venues.

11th seems fine to me, however as it's so far in advance its difficult to know whether it clashes with any other sporting/family events that may be difficult to re-arrange.

Count me in for now.
Solari
Hrm, well the venue that I *really* wanted is taken on both of those dates, however, at least I have the details for future reference. I'm thinking we could do something like Chester except in Central London at some point there... smile.gif

Anyways, still on the lookout... bear with me, I think it's probably an awkward time of year as a lot of places might be hosting some sort of Christmas functions!

It's not the easiest time of year to find anywhere suitable. Do let me know if all your contacts run into cul-de-sacs, and I'll have another think of venues. smile.gif

One venue quoted me 1400GBP+VAT without a piano for a private concert! Not even a proper auditorium either! eek.gif

Don't think I shall be using them, considering that we've had a Steinway C for a fraction of the price and that you can get a very prestigious venue in central London for less than half that quote! *faints* Actually, I'd want cabaret, caviar and champagne afterwards for that amount of money! laugh.gif

Waiting to hear back from some others!

you have plenty of time to find a good deal, don't rush into anything because you will just end up being ripped off.

Would you fancy naming that one so that we don't bother asking them another time!

King's Place, by King's Cross... smile.gif

Haven't had much luck with this by the way. I'll try firing off some more enquiries but I'm not holding out much hope right now, argh.

Sounds good! I hope you manage to find somewhere. smile.gif
