I am having a lot of trouble with dry lips this winter. It has never been this bad before. My tone is raspy, my range is poor and my endurance is nil.

It's very frustrating.

I am using Blistex on my lips, but I don't think the problem is limited to my lips, since the skin all around my mouth and on my chin is very tight and dry.

It feels almost like when I was taking Acutane, if any of you have ever done that.

I have to be careful what lotions, etc. I use because of my acne.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

hi my friend "reccomends a plastic mouthpeice for playing over the winter- useful for carol playing in the cold as they are easier to warm up and dont freeze your lips off!
try looking for kelly mouth peices- you can usually get one the same size as your normal one - but dont play it all the time as it is better to stick to your metal mouthpeice if you can -i've heard nothing bad about them except that playing on metal mouthpeices is better dispite this plastic mouthpeices are better for getting over the wnter months especially if your playing outside. jon scott"
does this help?

Hi...

I don't play the trumpet but my lips can get very dry in the winter.

Personally i find that Kiehl's Lip Balm 1 works miracles on dry lips. It is avaliable from SpaceNK shops or in Harvey Nichols.

From the dry skin, i find that Chanel Precision Hydramax Cream does the job. (Avaliable in department stores with Chanel counters)

Hope this Helps and Merry Xmas

Luv Teabag

Thanks, everyone. I think I figured it out. Several weeks ago I started using the new Clearasil Ultra and it has dried me out like a prune.

I stopped using it 5 days ago and I'm almost back to normal after two months of frustration.

Teabag, I will try those products, thanks!

Hi Kasey, hi everyone! I just wanted to tell you that I used to have the same problem during the winter, plus add my native problem with my dry skin. It's awful, I know!
After using a lot of bad products, my sister bought me from Europe something called Asla Vital. For me, it gave impressive results. Maybe you should try it too. I recommend it to anyone that tells me about such problems.
I am allergic to chemical ingredients, and this is another reason for me to use Asla Vital. Here you can take a look at the whole product line. Good luck!

I have tried some very effective lip protective products from The Body Shop in the past. As they change their ranges regularly I can't be too specific, but they are worth a look.

You could try Fcuk- kiss of life lip bald, it's really good, i used it for 2 days, frequently and it worked great! Or you could try Ferm from the body shop.
