morceau
I've just discovered the New Members section! so thought I would post a "hello".

I'm a piano teacher. I've been lurking around the forum for a while, learning a lot from the teachers forum particularly. I have only been teaching the piano for a few years, but really love it compared to anything else I did before. I wish I had gone into it earlier.

I used to play the trumpet - just to grade 5 - but haven't touched it for years (I don't even want to calculate how long - eek) However, reading around here about adult learners taking up new instruments just for the challenge is quite inspiring, so maybe... blues.gif

ps. I love the liberal use of smileys around here! hurrah.gif

So long as you don't indulge Hyacinth Bucket types by forcing children to take exams, I'll be nice and friendly to you smile.gif

Welcome aboard.

biggrin.gif Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

Don't panic Equinox - exams are strictly optional - though encouraged - a bit of pressure and challenge is always a good thing.

Hehe fsharpminor - oui - un petit morceau...de gateau!

maggiemay
de gateau? pas de fromage ??
fsharpminor
Maintenant, je mange un petit morceau de fromage avec pain, et puis je mangerai un grand morceau de gateau !
morceau
unsure.gif Uh oh! Have I given the impression that I am fluent in French?? ph34r.gif

OK I'll stop that nonsense. I see you are in Yorkshire, shall we try Yorkshire dialect ?, I was born and brought up in Keighley, and still work 3 days a week in Horsforth ! or maybe you're an "off cummed 'un ", someone who lives in Yorkshire but comes from sommewhere else !
morceau
I am from Yorkshire - not born here, but I've only spent a small number of years living anywhere else. God's own county - how could you leave?

It was work related. Company based in Harrogate was taken over and we had to move to Surrey in 1977 ( Selsdon -near forumite Cyrilla, though we didnt know each other then) . Left that company in 1987 to work for one in Liverpool, so move dto Wirral and Mrs got a teaching job in Chester. Left that company in 2002, but because of Mrs job and my son living near. I have commuted to Yorsk and back Tues-Thur most weeks. I work at home Mon and Fri.

Hi there. smile.gif

Whereabouts in Yorkshire? (You don't need to be too specific - the riding will do!)
morceau
Hi Mel, ah... you've spotted my evasion! I'm in West Yorks.

We have quite a good number of forumites now in Yorks, Leeds area, York area (including some at Uni from elsewhere) and right up to Scarborough. I dont suppose I count despite being brought up in Keighley and working three days a week in Horsforth. (stetenorve, - I started my working life in Derbyshire , at Spondon, living in Borrowash)
