Full Version: Adult Piano Learner Event In Letchworth (hertfordshire)

Dear All,

My teacher and myself are organising an Adult learner event to be held in Letchworth Garden City on the 22nd May from 2-5pm.

The event is for adult learners (beginner/intermediate, maybe more advanced if spaces available) but primarily for people who feel nervous when performing. EDIT - If there is not enough interest initially then any level can attend, nervous or not.

Pretty much the same as Solari's events (plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery Sol! blush.gif ). It's not to compete with any other events, merely to provide alternative events closer to the Herts area, if people cannot afford to travel further afield. I'm still up for the London events as they are great biggrin.gif

Due to time we will restrict to piano only. There will be no running order.

Once we have an idea of numbers then we can work out an idea of maximum time allocation for each player.

We would like around 10 people. The cost will probably be around £5 and you can pay on the day.

Who's interested?

Oh, what a shame I can't make the 22nd Mini_mo but my teacher is playing at a concert that day which coincides with her birthday and has invited me. What a shame it falls on the same day! sad.gif Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one if you decide to organise future ones! smile.gif

Can't make that as we have the Baroque day at Belsize park on the 22nd sad.gif Hope it goes well, though!

Hi Mini_mo

Can you give me a bit more information about the venue - is it your teacher's house, school hall, church...? And the type of piano - upright, grand, or whether it's anything special...?

Not that I'm picky, you understand rolleyes.gif tongue.gif

Hi Skylark. Here is the link for the venue:

The third pic down is the room where the piano is, however there seems to be a table in the photo instead! It's a Bechstein Grand if I remember rightly and whilst not as good as the Steinway C at the 1901 Arts Club, its pretty good (I have only played on it once) and wasn't really thinking about the tone whilst I was sweating with nerves during my performance laugh.gif

Oh what a shame. Unfortunately I didn't choose the date but as I am aware there wasn't much choice. I do think it might be tricky to fill the space as the events calendar is quite congested at the moment!

Hope the Baroque day goes well. See you in a few weeks and the following week! wacko.gif

That looks a lovely place smile.gif I'm very nervous on piano and I definitely need more practice at it. I'll look into whether I can come smile.gif

I'd be interested if I can get a lift to/from either Bedford or Luton railway station.

The alternative of going into London St Pancras and back out from Kings Cross is rather unattractive. BTW the website referred to doesn't seem to show where Howgills is so can't judge if it would even then be within walking distance of Letchworth station.

If anyone would like a second person to try a duet then I'd be happy to take the blame when it all goes to pieces! blush.gif
