Going to the new parents' meeting at the school my daughter is going to in September.
I don't want to go because -
a) It's pouring with rain
b) It's not the school I wanted for her
c) I am far too young to have a child going to secondary school (in my head - not according to my birth certificate)

I am going down to the river bank where an English couple have a delightful tea place and I am going to indulge in an English cream tea - home made scones, jam, cream and all. Then I am going to indulge in self pitying homesickness and after I have got over it I shall tell myself I am extremely lucky to have the best of both worlds. This is all because we have a much loved English friend staying with us for a few days. Only the English would travel the length and breadth of France looking for an English cream tea.
I shall, of course, regret the calories,

but not the occasion!!

Off to the optician to sort out a pair of specs for reading organ music. I've given up trying to tilt my chin to get my varifocals at the right angle. Took 'em off and it was clearer! (Just not quite clear enough.

)
I figure it should be cheaper to have a separate pair for this - I won't be paying extra for non-scratch coating, polished edges etc that I would be beguiled into having for my 24/7 pair.
Good old Vision Express; I hope to be bringing the specs home with me later. OH is happy to wait a fortnight for his-that would drive me crazy.

I am going to make yet another desperate attempt to discipline myself to tidy my study and at least make a list of everything I actually have to do before September. Then I am going to try to find the strength of mind (and body) to make an effort to start on doing some of it.

LOL sorry guys, it's the joys of living in Spain/Gibraltar! I'm sure they all think I'm crazy, though, I ended up doing air-violin practice to learn my fingerings instead of lyrics. Singing teacher is going to wonder what's happened this week when I haven't done enough practice!!

Better than the last time I logged off. We are going to see the last Harry Potter film. I think I had better take a box of paper hankies - no more Harry, no more Hermione and no more Ron. A colleague of mine just said that going to the last HP movie "en famille" was a really emotional, symbolic family event ... eldest son is just off to uni so for them this really was an end-of-childhood rite of passage, with the family - who grew up together on HP books - parting company for the first time. Apparently they were also in need of hankies!
I wonder if this is a widespread phenomenon?
