I am back.
With a big pile of music.
And a Mollenhauer pearwood treble at A=415
Not a big surprise really. The real surprise was my husband picking me up from the railway station and confessing to having bought a camera before I had to confess to buying a(nother) recorder - turns out we spent about the same amount of money today!!
Barry was an absolute star and took me in hand with regards to trying things out and not being worried about being the only person at a stand and having to potentially
talk to someone. Without then buying anything.
So today I have played:
Crumhorns
A cornemuse (a straight crumhorn, basically)
Possibly a Rauschpfeife (which looks to be the same as a cornemuse)
A cornetto
Gemshorns, including a stunning one which (now I look up the price) must have been a sub-bass
A serpent
A small clarinet (labelled as a 'diatonic clarinet')
A chalmeaux
Bladder pipes
A baroque flute in a walking stick (yes, really! I only sort of half got a note out of it as I've never played flute)
A plucked psaltery
A knee harp (with only four strings!)
Clavichords
A spinet
Harpsichords
Oh, and
lots of recorders, garklein to great bass (no contras there today)
