ohmy.gif rolleyes.gif wacko.gif I have a bad cold with a hurting throaght, and when I do my aural, I sound all crackly. My exam isn't terribly soon, but it keeps coming and going and I am worried that it will affect aural singing, as sometimes I can't hit certain notes.

HELP PLEASE

aural is supposed to be a listening test, and in truth, the singy bit is very short - in all honesty, I think you can simply put that in perspective and not bother too much about it. I did grade 7 having taken about 100g of menthol sweeties over the previous 24 hours, with a streaming head and croaking voice, and did extremely fine - my singing wouldn't have sounded all that different anyway even without the cold, hehe wink.gif. It's more important not to overtax your voice. They do say you can whistle instead, but controlling a whistle can be just as hard as controlling a voice properly...

Don't worry about it. If you can't sing or hit certain notes you are allowed to hum or whistle. A crackly voice is unimportant in aural tests, so long as you are in tune. I tell my pupils that it is an 'ear test or listening test. Not a voice test'.

Good luck when your exam. comes around.
