Full Version: Good Starting Book?

Hello all.

I have been learning jazz on the saxophone for a few years. I've been mostly playing along with tuition CD's by the name of developing Jazz techniques and I really want to move on from here.

My hubby is a guitarist and I would love to play some jazz tunes with him. He has no trouble whatsoever improvising if he knows the key or progression, but he's not too hot on working out chords.

So I really need a book that has Eb saxophone tunes, with chords in C for guitar. I'm not really worried about the types of songs or tunes, just that they cover a range of jazz styles.

Has anyone got any good suggestions, or know any books which have both chords in C and tunes in Eb? Thanks

Try the Aebersold series. They have the tunes (including chord symbols) in Bb, Eb, concert pitch treble clef and concert pitch bass clef plus a playalong CD.
