Young composers,

Don't neglect the horn section if you need some brassy oomph in your works. smile.gif

This is my "Remembrances", whereby I really give the horns a workout.

You need to get that recorded by a proper orchestra - I really like it smile.gif

I'm glad that you like it. Thank you, but I can't monetarily afford a "proper orchestra". tongue.gif

Regards to you on "the big island".

Could you not talk to a music college/school about the possibility of having it performed/recorded? Or perhaps a local friendly amatueur orchestra.

That might be a possibility? smile.gif

I am an old chap and not in good health. I will pass on your suggestion, but I appreciate your interest.

Thanks and regards.

I like that very much, Larry! smile.gif

To my mind, it would make a lovely organ concerto. I'm not an organist though, so I suspect there might be one or two on here that may disagree! rolleyes.gif

Chin-chin old thing! biggrin.gif

Miss Daisy,

It pleases me that you like it. Thanks very much for taking the time to listen.

I hope to visit Jolly Old England before I go to that great music room in the sky. smile.gif I love the country and its people, although most Brit slang goes right over my head. sad.gif tongue.gif

Chin-chin? Isn't that Chinese? tongue.gif

I hope you're not planning on going up there just yet... unsure.gif

It's the Cockney Rhyming slang that seems to confuse most overseas visitors..and probably some Brits too! Old sayings like "toodle-pip" and "chin-chin" would have been used in the 20's and 30's probably, though I suspect the upper echelons may still use them today, along with the daft 'air-kissing' that goes on nowadays. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Looking forward to hearing more of your compositions.

I am looking forward to posting more of my works, with the permission of the forum leaders.

I had a look at your website, Larry, I must say the Gourd art is brilliant! biggrin.gif

I'm shocked that you don't have a Roland JV unit in your arsenal though! I have a fully loaded JV-1080 with Orchestral I and II expansions and wish I could make as much use of it as you do with your kit! I keep telling myself that it's an investment for the future, when I can make more time to have a proper go at composing! wink.gif

Thanks for the compliment regarding my gourd art. I have a lot of fun creating it and my seashell art.

I use only software sample libraries when writing music. I don't utilize (Brit. - utilise smile.gif ) any hardware units at all.

Take care, young chap.

seriously though, you should get in contact with a local youth orchestra or at least a local pianist so you can get some of these works performed. These compositions are too good to just sit doing very little. I for one would like to study some of the scores for your clarinet compositions. smile.gif clarinet.gif

My works have been performed many, many times through the many years during which I have been composing.

I choose to now write just for the pleasure of it and for any help that I may possibly be able to give to young, beginning composers. People from virtually every country in the world access my website to listen to my efforts and this is uplifting and satisfying. It doesn't provide a single quid to me but that's ok. smile.gif

Hold on! 'alf a mo'! Blimey...I'm actually beginning to talk like a Britisher! wink.gif tongue.gif

Even if Scotland were truly independent, Scots would still be British, as Scotland is one of the component countries making up the island of Britain. You wouldn't say that a person from Zambia was not African, would you?

Since I am an "intruder" American here, I will stay out of this. smile.gif

A nation is defined by a common set of ideals and a people's shared goals for their society. And at the moment, we as scots are united in thinking tory pm? Did we vote for him? Have our public services cut due to english banker's mistakes? Have the wealth of our north sea oil taxed and spent in england? Tories making us more alienated from eu? No thanks. dry.gif
