Hi, what grade did you get to after playing the violin for six years? I got to grade 5, and I was just interested in where everyone else is!!

It varies !

Many of my friends play the violin and they usually move one grade a year. But some of them learn very slowly and they just got grade 3 or 4 after learning for 6 years.

However, I have a cousin who is really a music talent. She started learning the violin when she was 6, and she passed her grade 8 with distinction when she was just 9 ! She is now 11 and she has already got the ABRSM Diploma and ATCL in violin, all with distinction !! She also won the overall champion in both the violin and the piano sections in the music festival last year.

My other friend, who is now 20, year 2, has just started to learn the violin last summer (about 8 months ago), and he is doing his grade 3 this year.

The learning progress varies from person to person. Well, actually, no matter how far you've got, or how fast you learn, the main point is that you enjoy what you play and you really love the music ! Try to compare the progress with yourself only, and do not put too much stress on yourself. Good luck with your violin learning~
