I have a transferred pupil who took his g8 theory exam on Oct 16th but had failed w/ 61%. He is going to retake the exam on Jan 22nd next year.

In fact, I had no prior experience is teaching g6-8 theory. u should all know that g6 is already much harder than g5. i had completed g7 and 8 theory exams myself 4 yrs ago.

my pupil is only a 12-yr-old boy n i got him through my friend's (she's a nurse) recommendation. My fd had only done up to g6 herself so she can't help him. she phoned me and told me that this boy has lots of gaps in his knowledge so she asked me to make a home visit to teach him and to fill in his gaps. (it's ok to go to his home since he lives only 10 mins from where i live)

at the beginning, i refused to teach him since g8 theory is too hard for me to tackle n would be v risky for a teacher like me to teach. however, my fd had phoned n begged me 3 times on 3 separate days on the phone so i had to promise her at the end.

she told me that his mom is v nice and is very much unlike many parents who are very troublesome in HK, e.g. bargaining constantly on tuition fees, change of lesson times, etc. her mom pays me HK$530/1.5 hrs for every home visit.

the boy's mom wanted me to teach him almost everyday. i helped him by checking his latest past papers.

for those who are from hong kong, u should all know that there is NO model answers to g8 theory past papers available for sell in music retailers. however, model answers to g5 (such as by Paul Lam) are available in every music store.

i have to buy copies of 02-03 past papers n do all the Qs myself. i personally do not know how to do every Q myself, i'm stuck on some Qs so that's a big problem. i'm stuck in some Qs in Q4 n Q5 (the general exs.) i do not have fds who have answers to 02-03 papers.

for those who have done all the 2002-03 Qs (esp Q4 n 5), can u PM me n give me ur emails so that u can scan me your answers?
