Help!! I've just been offered a quarter page advert in our local music festival brochure (as thanks for some voluntary work I'm doing) and I need to do it today!!

Any tips on what I should put?

So far I have

Piano and Vocal Tuition

Contact....

This is my big chance to get the word out, I just can't afford "pay for" adverts. So I don't want to mess it up!!

I need to say something about why anyone would want to have music lessons in the first place!
I need to say something about why they should choose me!

I am a qualified teacher (PGCE) and I run a lot of community music groups, choirs, uke club, pre-school music, KS2 stuff etc. I have no exam successes to show off. I haven't got x years experience. All my current students are adult beginners (except for my 3 year old son although I'm not sure I want to tap the pre-school market!! ohmy.gif ) so should I say I specialise in adult beginners. I do want children too, and obviously have all my qualifications and CRB check etc. And MU membership, and PLI. If I say I specialise in beginners will it put people off if they think they won't be able to stay with me as they progress (but they will!)

I like teaching classical and popular genres and am happy for students to do exams (although none have yet) or do it just for fun.

Maybe an idea of prices and where you are (or where you would be prepared to travel to)? Also whether you would suggest an initial lesson (or 2 or 3) before expecting a longer term commitment?

Your "child protection check" may be worth mentioning too.

All this speaking as a learner not teacher, and of course this may all be on your website anyway.

Good luck

What you have sounds good. I'd add "MU member", possibly "fully insured MU member with enhanced CRB certificate" or something.
