Hi,

Re: Grade I Piano exam, new syllabus - Anon. Menuet in F. No. 6. List A[i]

I would be very interested to hear of opinions as to the fingering for the above piece in the left hand. There are repeated notes which should indicate change of fingering? Particulary the B flat.

Thanks in advance blush.gif

Not got the music but I'd guess that it depends on the performer.
If it works musically without changing fingers and a change is not necessary in order to change hand position then I wouldn't worry about it. At this level it may do more to interrupt the flow of the music than aid in shaping the notes.

I also think it does not matter much. Crotchets are played non-legato. There is no finger suggestions until Bar 6; so I suppose the implied fingering is 543 222 222 333 333. At Bar 6, I used 435 instead of 135, but again I think it does not matter.

There is only one place where the book suggests a change of finger on repeated notes - Bar 12 (232). My understanding is that all other places with repeated notes they do not require a change of finger.
