sorry to be a pain, but i need the repeating bass chords in the songs what ur made of by lucie silvas. I cant find it in any of the shops ive been to and cant find it free anywhere online. I havent got the skill to play it from ear, lol, so if anyone is lucky enough to have that skill, could u please tell me those chords. And i will give u any sheet music or help or facts or support u want that i have in these forums,
Rhapsodin
Do you need saving? (reaches for Bible...)

Don't raise your hopes.
I can't find anyone who knows the singer or the song among the few around me who would know the chart market.
Towerrecords list her song but it's about a fiver for the single. She's turned out very little - an album and CD as far as I can see. Is she another Vanessa Carton or that...forgot her name, Avril something? Greasy sort of female d'you know the one I mean?

I'm promising nothing and won't buy a cd at that price but will enquire further. Remember my limits, I'm a snooty, snobby humourless classical musician who pinches his nose to pop music except...(growling...going ecstatic...melting) Kelly Osbourne and the now elderly Siouxsie Sue. Ughr-r-r-r-r-r....

Yup, that's the one. Thank you!

Well, there are plenty of samples of her but....

Reign,

Every site we can think of (UK, USA, FR+domtoms Ger, Aus) stock that single but they're being remarkably defensive - none offer even the 30 second samples. I've enquired of someone who does subscription downloads. It may not be there if the lady is trying to force people to buy it. No one wants to pay £4 - £5 for 1 song these days.

Are you sure you want it?
Have you got a CD of it?
The music is available but for the whole album.

Sorry, since my above post wouldn't edit had to create a new one:

1. Video: here

I don't know whether you could work out the chords :S

2. The sheet music: here (£14.95)

Hope this helps!

hello. I thank u ALL for trying to answer my request. Nicki flute, i can't get on those websites either, so if U can't get on them dont worry, nor can i. And thannk u again rhapsodin for ur searching. I will keep looking at the video and see if i can work out any chords, lol.
But just one question. Can anyone worl it out from ear from cd or if u havent got cd u can get the;
*video of the chorus
or
*sound file of hole song.
please reply if you have woerked it out by ear
nicki_flute
Did you take the stars out? I got the midi file to work:Click hereand you should get the midi file to work. You need Windows Media Player or Real Player or something like that to hear it. That is a sound file of the whole song.
The sheet music, which can be ordered online (here) has parts for piano, guitar and voice.
Rhapsodin
Nicki,

Is that midi file the song in question? It's quite slow and shouldn't be too hard to work out. Theres nothing fancy about the chords - straight triads. A few passing notes in the accomp is all.

Tune sounds like in E minor - E,F#,G........E,F#,GA...E,F#G-GG A F#-ED
which makes the opening chords per bar (I'd guess)

E minor | C maj | Gmaj | Dmaj (*may be 1st inversion F# in bass leading back to.... |
E minor | C maj | Gmaj | Dmaj |
(repeated again. then just before the sample stops it does a triplet over 2 beats - E min - D maj - C maj....
I dare say it lands on G maj but the sample runs out.

Are we on the right track here?

*not clear enough on my player...
The video comes down too fragmented to do anything with. One and a bit chords at a time, way-hayy.

I do not know the song, sorry sad.gif But I think the midi is the right song (if you get me).

Will try again: do not know how the tune goes but it is the same song as the video.

OMG thank u sooooooooooooooo much rhapsodin. I didnt know anyone would be generous enough to give me those chords, and i'll give u any advice u want and read all ur posts, lol.
But (im not having a go at u here) im not as experianced as u so i dont know what
the sentence beginning with tune sounds like...
the first inversion bit
and the triplet.
perhaps u could explain it with the words like, "just b4 she says ur the one..." she does a Cmaj or whatever.
But thank u sooooooooooooo much for those chords and i will work out what u mean anyway.
nicki_flute
Sorry I couldn't give them to you smile.gif
I am sure Rhapsodin will gladly give you a good explaination.

Nicki, but it was you who found the midi file! and reign embraces you in the same thanks. Methinks he's a bit carried away by this song. When I get time I'll try to do his other request but I really need one of me mates to download the song.

Reign: are you a member of a library? Even if not, do you live near one that would get you a copy of the sheet music? Just that you'll get exact details from it, even if you have to sit in the lib, copy out the lyrics with the chord details underneath (the guitar ones will do). We could help lay them out for the piano.

So, thanks, Nicki for finding those original midi files.

Nicki, please could you drop a hint or two my way? When you do a "click here" link, as you did with the midi files and video links in your post, how do you substitute "click here" or whatever, for the full link (which I can copy and paste in)?

Am I making sense?

No, I thought not! But if it's easy to answer I'd be really thankful.

Just had an email from friend who has downldd this song. As I'm on narrowband it'll take a while to get to me. I'd better go outside and tighten the cocoa tins and string.

If you're reading this, Reign, I still can't promise anything and I'll need some time.

cheers

Duff post - sorry. System or me...who knows?!?!?

Here's the chorus then. A triplet is when you play 3 notes in the time of 2. You'll see what I mean.
copyright Lucie Silvas presumably:

Now, the formatting capability of this board don't help.

E-F#..G.......G.....F#......G.......A (etc)
If it's not what you're made of
.........|Emin..................|Cmaj

You're not what I'm looking for
(c maj)......|G maj.................|Dmaj

You were willing but unable to....give me anymore
(Dmaj).....|Emin............|Cmaj......|Gmaj..........|Dmaj

There's no way, You're changing, cause somethings will just never be mine,
(Dmaj).......|Emin...........|Cmaj.........................|Gmaj.............................|Dmaj

(watch this next line - the triple thing)
You're not love this ...time ... .. ... but it's allright. (ohwwwowwwowww...)
(Dmaj)......|Em |Dmaj.|Cmaj...................*|Emin/ / Dmaj6/ / Cmaj maj7/ / / / (This is repeated and leads into the next verse - which happens to be based around these chords). (She varies it here and there)

*each chord played twice (two beats) except the Cm maj7 which is 4 beats & played 4 times thus.
*Also, the B of the Emin chord (EGB) is held over to become the 6 of Dmaj (DF#AB - B is a 6th from the root, D) and I think its held over to become the 7th of the Cmaj one CEGB(natural) - it sustains to return to the 5th of the Emin chord repeat.

Chords: They're sometimes elaborated in the song but these are the basics. I'll give them to you as "triads", taking the basic key as E minor. I'll check that later and transpose them if I've got it wrong - my perfect pitch goes a bit imperfect in the winter! Chords are bass note upward.
Emin - EGB
Cmaj - CEG
Gmaj - GBD
Dmaj - DF#A .. ..(as this leads back to the E min, you might try the 1st inversion - the 3rd (F#) is the lower note: F#AD. So the bass flows nicely: G - F# - E...)

Try them out as they are first off. Go down from Emin to C, then up to the G chord, then down to the D. Don't be afraid to frig around with them.

I notice she thins out the chords at the start but they all seem to be around: E-B, then D-AB, then C-GB, back to E-B. She flips in a low B on the last halfbeat before returning to E-B. I'll let you know what else I can find out.

Hope this gets you started now, anyway. All because Nicki found that Midi file!

So you mean instead of saying "click here or whatever" you want the full address?

So instead of ABRSM, you want http://www.abrsm.org/?

To add a link, you click on the "http://" button. A pop up box then comes up, asking you for the URL (site address, in this case http://www.abrsm.org/), and then it asks what you want to call the link. In this box you can put anything you want smile.gif. The links are called hyperlinks (not that you needed to know that).

I know a lot of HTML (how to code HTML pages so the font is blue or whatever) as webdesigning is a hobby of mine.

Oh dear, I knew my articulation was going! Exactly the opposite but you told me what to do and many thanks.

Like I have a link but I wanted to get snazzy and type "Click this" in my post, so the clicker isn't at that point aware of what the site it. Just a bit more refined.

I know a little HTML and wonder why we aren't allowed just a bit more on these boards. I wanted to centre something the other day - experimented but to no avail.

Again, thank you

Oh so, do you know what to do now.

I was going to add something else but thought flood control would stop me and now I have forgotten :-\

It didn't take me long to find the midi file, just a quick search on Google. Well done Rhapsodin for all your hard work "transposing" (is that the right word?) it.

HTML is goos but I suppose that hackers/spammers/other idiots would find it easier to hack/spam us if it was allowed.

Sorry got to go now, and entertain my Grandad!
