Hi there. I am trying to get my head around some basic theory. No teacher/books only - adult learner so please bear with me if it sounds like a stupid question!

I'm struggling understanding dominant 7th cords, specifically how they relate to minor scales. Do dom 7th cords exsist in minor scales? If not, why not!?

Thanks for any advice,

Lots to learn I feel! wacko.gif

Yes, but they are the same as for the major.

Yes, dominant seventh chords exist in both major and minor keys.

For a long time I thought minor scales were a separate breed, but most of what applies to a major scale applies to a minor scale.

The raised 3rd in the V chord of a minor scale used to confuse me, but a dominant 7th in a minor is the basically that major V chord with the 7th stuck onto it.
