Do people recieve lots of e-mails/calls asking them if they wish to spend £X hundred on marketing/advertising?

Yesterday i was called by a person trying to sell me a quarter page ad in a magazine that would be delivered to 200k people on south london. 2 weeks ago someone called me and tried to sell me google marketing.

I am bored of telling them NO.

No. Never had any.
Never had any of those strange emails regarding lessons either.

I've had them - I just tell them that I've got no money and they leave me alone... biggrin.gif

Yes, I get a lot. I usually ask them upfront if they're selling advertising, and if they are, I tell them I'm not interested. Occasionally, if I'm in the mood, I'll challenge them and ask them to give me some good reasons why I should advertise with them - they frequently can't answer this which stumps them! laugh.gif

If I wish to advertise then I want to approach the company rather than the other way around.

The one that called me yesterday tried to pursuade me witha 10% discount and a promise that I would get 3/4 calls a week.

I recommend signing up for the Telephone Preference Service http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/what/
It's free and whilst it doesn't eliminate the unscrupulous companies who will call anyway and it doesn't eliminate companies phoning from overseas, it significantly cut down the number of unsolicited sales/marketing calls I was getting at home. You can also add mobile numbers too now.

It's probably down to the sites you are advertising on - as in, not because they are passing your name on, but these guys are basically on commission only, and so trawl through the advertising sites to find potential customers for themselves.
You could try adding 'no sales calls' or something like that to your ads - might work

I've never had any emails either. The phone calls I did get for a time, but I think they got fed up with me saying 'no' tongue.gif

I always tell them that I have a waiting list and get daily enquiries through the free listings, therefore no need to advertise. smile.gif

Try asking how they found your number? If they could find you then so can your customers tongue.gif
