May I take this opportunity to inform members of this forum of an organ recital to celebrate the Centennial year of the association. It is free of charge but a retiring collection will be held in aid of the association's bursary fund to aid young organists with their tuition fees. It is to be held on Saturday 25th September 2010 at 7.00pm in St Margaret's Parish Church, Leicester (which is very close to the main bus and coach station just offf Burleys Way in the centre of Leicester).
The organ is a 4 manual Nicholson instrument which is now in fine condition (the full specification is on the NPOR website) and the recitalists are all members of the association and include a former cathedral organist.
The music spans many centuries of organ music including at least two pieces specially commissioned for the event. Light refreshments are being served in the interval.
Whilst I appreciate that one of the forum rules is no advertising, I did e-mail one of the moderators and was informed, although this person was not the moderator for this particular forum, that this 'should' be OK. If it does 'offend' against the rules, then please delete this post, but we would like as much support for this event in view of its support for young organists.
