Hey everyone!!

I don't normally write anything on the forums (just read), but I am looking forward to this event. I teach with muzikalbadger, so somehow that means I have to help her do stuff to get organised!

My big task is booking somewhere for a meal after our day together, so if everybody who is interested in going could let me know by 27th March that would be great so that I can get somewhere booked in plenty of time.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

I'm more nervous for driving through, I hate driving places I don't know haha, I may actually get the train through instead.
I think I will play the Toccatta by Khachaturian I was learning - so scared I make a mistake though blush.gif

A train will probably leave you more relaxed smile.gif There seems to be serious one way systems in Glasgow... laugh.gif

muzikalbadger sent me a cast list earlier today : a very encouraging 21 attendees smile.gif

I'm sure muzikalbadger will be along soon : but I should think it'd be OK - still a goodly amount of time to get an accompaniment sorted.

Of course if your piece doesn't need an accompaniment, you can say on the day 'I'm not playing x piece, I'm playing y piece'. I've done this before... ph34r.gif laugh.gif

If you are changing from the Lefevre, give me plenty of notice : it may be a change of instrument as well as piece for me (for those unaware, I'm intending to accompany Louise on 'cello). smile.gif

Thanks Louise! biggrin.gif

It seems to be not that far from St. Enoch subway station. This is good, because Louise and I are staying in a hotel about 2 minutes walk from Kelvinbridge subway station... biggrin.gif

Then go ahead and change it to something you prefer!! You want to play something you really enjoy playing! I presumed Matthew was accompanying you anyway!! (makes my life easier too!!) It would be good to know what you do decide to play for organising the running order, but as Barry says, if accompaniment is not a problem you could decide to change your mind on the day too, im sure no one would mind in the slightest!

Note that on a Sunday the service only runs from 10am to about 5.30pm - times here. I guess it would leave from Kelvinbridge at about 10.25, then about 8 minutes to St Enoch and another 5 minute walk from there to the Tron.

What bus information are you looking for? If it's to get from Central Station to the Tron, I can have a look for you... but it is around 10 minutes walking distance. It would be great if you could join us for the meal - what kind of time would you have to look at getting a train back?
tetrachord
Last train from Central is 11.15. I was more worried about getting back to the station after the meal seeing as the subway closes at 5.30.

The service from Queen Street is quicker (54 minutes), and it is not much further to walk to the Tron. Last trains back are 2230 and 2330. Timetable here. Or the last train back from Central is 2337, arriving Waverley at 0044. The 2315 from Central starts with a bus transfer to Queen Street!

Unless you have a mobility problem it is not worth taking a bus from Central, as the one-way system around a pedestrianised area sends you around three sides of a square - it is much quicker to walk.
muzikalbadger
What mcm says is totally true!! Much much quicker to walk! (if possible!) We will be eating around the centre of Glasgow, so getting back to either station will be fine... You shouldn't need to rely on the subway at all...

(Barry and Louise - there are loads of night buses out to Kelvinbridge area too so you will be fine also!)
tetrachord
Ok, cheers for the info. Seems I'm even more dense about modern technology than I realised - for some reason the information I got suggested the Queen Street trains stopped about 6. I'm sure I must have some kind of dumbing effect on technology I use...
