I just got my Grade 8 trumpet results back and I got a pass - 117 - not bad but I can't help feeling disappointed...my exam went ok-ish am I being totally stupid??

You passed! No you shouldn't be feeling disapointed, but very proud of yourself

Firstly well done on passing your grade 8!! Congratulations!!

I wouldn't worry about your mark.. its a good mark anyway.. you should be very proud of yourself for passing.. when I did piano grade 8 I just managed a pass.. I was very nervous for that exam for some reason...but others in the past went ok! I did mine with Guildhall though ... but its still Grade 8.

Well done... do you play any other instruments? Are you going to/do you teach?

Grade 8 is a very difficult exam, they will be marking you much more harshly than in other exams and its natural to be dissapointed when you don't get the top marks, but beleive me it really is a great mark!

hello?!? you PASSED! That's great, and you got a really high pass too- a merit is 120 marks so you were only 3 marks off.
I did my grade 8 at the beginning of December, but no results as yet!

When I did my grade 3 I had a really strict examiner, and she passed me (and two of my friends taking exams at the same time as me) with something like 105- now THAT'S something to be disappointed about!

I play piano, trumpet, drum kit and teach myself to play bass guitar but not seriously tho hehe

well i dont know because i just recieved my grade6 piano n grade6 flute results and i am very dissapointed. i was supposed to get merit to distinction n i got 113 for piano (i think its awful) n 116 for flute. i thought that my exams went really well...no, they did go really well... so im a bit annoyed with my examiner. apparently she marks really low because my teacher's daughter took her exam too and my teacher heard it and said it was to distinction standard yet she only got a merit. i just cant believe the marks i got and it was putting me down all day. both my teachers are complaining to the board about her as her marking scheme is not very good at all. a very annoyed izzywizzy xxx

congratulations! my friend just got 117 on her grade 8 viola... she was a little disappointed, but cheered up when she realised how good it was!!

poor you, izzywizzy!!! I can understand how you feel, especially if it's the examiner's fault ! that would really annoy me, too! don't put yourself down, though!!!
