If any one gets offended by me posting about aural, I advise you to stop reading now.

Can anyone recommend a good aural training book and CD that I can use to develop my poor skills? Preferably starting at around grade 2 sort of thing... unsure.gif It needs to be relatively low priced... I'm a broke student at the moment... sad.gif I have had a look on ebay, and the only aural book with a CD is grade 4-5, and i is the AB one which someone said is very useful? It is rather reasonably priced at £10 because aparently in the shops they are more than this... But my aural skills arn't this advanced yet... Does anyone know of any beginner books? unsure.gif

I checked online and you can get the Aural Training in Practice grades 1-3 book and cassette for £9:95 or the book and CD for £12:95.
I use these regularly as I don't often have access to a piano with pupils. They are very useful and easy to use on your own. smile.gif

I am doing Guildhall Grade 7, if I bought the AB Grade 7 aural would I find it similar?

Probably. The aural test are similar between boards.

A small amount. A very small amount - about grade 2 ish.

You don't need to play piano to use the AB books and the CD!
I have all the David Turnbull books too - but you really need a piano/keyboard with them. smile.gif

So if I purchased the Guildhall book (with CD), I wouldn't need to be able to play the piano? I can but only about Grade 2 standard.
Garkleine
Presumably not Nicki, however as I haven't used the Guildhall material I can't be sure.
Certainly with the Ab books and Cd everything is played for you and you can follow the book. smile.gif
