I noticed that a lot of people have posted theory results in great detail... I don't remember ever knowing what i got for each part of the exam! I *think* I got 90% (I know I got distinction, because I have the certificate) but I have no idea if I remember exactly right, and I also don't think I ever saw the breakdown of the marks. Maybe my teacher kept that? Does anyone know if the Associated Board keep a record? A detailed one? I'm curious to know how I did on each section. I'm fairly sure I took it between '95 and '97.

Not much room for error there then...
But, I think my teacher mentioned that the mark breakdown is a fairly new thing?

Yes, I think the mark scheme used to be different :-\

lol... well I can't recall offhand where I put my certificates. if I could find that I would know.
I wondered if it was a new thing. I noticed on my flute certificate that it said "intermediate music" which is definitely new, well new to me.

The breakdown of the marks has only been given to us for the last few years - before that we were only told the total. It's much better now!

The "intermediate" bit on certificates (and other similar phrases) is all due to the QCA accreditation which these exams now have - as do other music exams from other Boards.
Breakdown of theory marks has also only come in the last two years or so - presumably for similar reasons.

All may not be lost: my boyfriend took his grade 5 theory in the C period of 1996 and I have his mark breakdown here right now, so they definitely did exist then; his older sister did it in the B period of the same year and also has a mark breakdown so they have been doing the breakdowns for quite a while. I know that there is a cut off date which, if one did grade 5 theory before, one has to send the paper certificate as evidence as the AB don't have computer records; however they may have paper records and just not like to fish them out though! I don't know what that date is unfortunately but it's probably possible to find out from the regulations (I'm feeling a bit lazy

).

hmmmm, interesting...
I am fairly sure I'm inside the "they have computer records" date... I shall have to ring them or write to them sometime...
it's possible that my teacher had the breakdown and kept it I guess.... can't ask her now... she's gorned
